What is happening to Quick Edit?
One of the best functionalities in SharePoint document Libraries; the Quick Edit-tool is not there in modern document libraries. Why?
Please bring it back ASAP!

I got the same problem on the site pages. Seems like its only available on the default "All pages" view

Merethe Stave ; I just encountered the same issue after creating a new Documents site! However, the [Quick edit] button became available after a new view was saved using the "datasheet" style as a non-default view

. Not sure if that's the solution, but seems to be a good workaround for now! - Alex_IHICopper Contributor

Not sure if you figured this one out or if my case is aplicable to your situation. However, I found that in my libraries if I go to the Edit View page and under the section "Style-->View Style" set any other value than "Default" then the Quick Edit link will disappear. Changing back to default brings back the Quick Edit.

Erik Wettergren Thanks for getting back. I figured out I had to ungroup the rows to get quick edit back again.
- Michel VerwijmerenCopper ContributorIt seems like it.. One of my older SharePoint Sites still has the Quick Edit button within a Document Library, a newer (demo) tenant hasn't.
- Tanya DentonSteel ContributorJust checked my tenant and some doc libraries give me the Quick Edit, others don't. Trying to determine what the difference between the libraries are! If i find out i will post.

Thanks Tanya Denton, yes, a colleague of mine experiences the same, eg. that it doesn't show in one tenant, but at a customer's tenant it shows...
- Tanya DentonSteel ContributorI have no idea why. But .... In the view that did NOT show Quick Edit i had the the following columns in the view Type Name Modified Modified By If i then added one more column to the view 'Quick Edit' then appeared. I only added [App Created By] column, which is a non-editable field, so have no idea why this then made Quick Edit appear! I think one to report?

- David BroussardIron ContributorYou could create a DataSheet view and use that. Not quite the same, but similar.

Yes David Broussard, I could, but that just brings me to "classical" version. What when that is no longer available? And, it is a bit backwards crossing the stream to pick up water.... :-) The whole point about "Quick Edit" is what the name says... ;-)

Please say it isn't so....
