Unable to Activate Office 365 Office 2016 proplus on Windows 7 SP1 machine

Hi,

 

Unable to Activate Office 365 Office 2016 proplus on Windows 7 SP1 machine. Sucessfully activated on Windows 10 machine.

 

Any idea ?

    I would suggest one of two ways, as I have had the same issue.

    1. Get off your network. See if the issue reoccurs on a mobile hotspot or similar public Wifi.
    2. Run the built in VBScript from a command prompt. Below is assuming 32-bit Office. If it is 64-bit, remove the "(x86)".

                cscript %ProgramFiles(x86)%\Microsoft Office\Office16\ospp.vbs /act

    If there are any issues, it will give you a code.

      Hi Brad,

       

      1.  Yes, I am able to activate on Mobile hotspot / Open network.

      2.  I ran this command and got error... can see in attached file

       

      Also activation issue happening with all Windows 7 machine.

        OK, so the grace license thing is a PITA. Get rid of it. It is the cause of your issue. I'd hazzard a guess the license you were hiding is VMFTK. Run the following:

         

        cscript %ProgramFiles(x86)%\Microsoft Office\Office16\ospp.vbs /unpkey:VMFTK (or what ever the license is).

         

        I am guessing the machine came from an image. I learned long ago to save the download that pulls the the installer package from MS (all the old ones are still available if you run it) and never open or attach a license before sysprep. That way first user assgined a profile will get it and Grace license shouldn't show up.

         

        If you have no license after removing the grace license, and signing the person in and out of Office from one of the apps doesn't work, just go to their Office 365 profile and rerun install of software from there. It will resolve the issue. I have had all of the above occur before.
