Teams Class Retention

Been working with MS support and they've advised Microsoft Class Teams don't come under the retention targeting. Little disappointing as the Team's class are still created in SP and MS Groups. I wondered if anyone had managed to successfully implement anything even if its third party?

We need to apply retention to classes with a slight twist that there targetted by a specific naming convention e.g. Class Blue - * has a 7 year retention and then delete were as Class Green - * has a 1 year retention and then delete.
