Skype Chat within Word Online
Hi there, This already has a few threads but no exact answer for my scenario. I have a 365 tenant who is trying to simultaneously edit an Office Online document, These documents live in a SharePoint Document Library. There is supposed to be a "Chat" bubble when multiple people are editing, but there is not.
This Article states what I am after. https://blogs.office.com/en-us/2016/03/07/collaboration-in-office-chat-with-your-co-editors-in-real-time-via-skype/?eu=true
And this article describes the problem/limitation I have. https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Office-365/Skype-Chat-within-Word-Online/m-p/93331
But I have not found how to setup a SharePoint Folder which is compatible with online chat.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

- Do you have Skype for Business set up and people signed into it?
The way it works when things are set up right is as described in every tenant I've worked across.
The key is Skype for Business.
Also when you say "SharePoint Folder" do you mean "library"?- jay ralstonCopper Contributor
Hi there,
Yes we have Skype for Business setup and signed in. I even tried using Edge instead of Chrome, yet still there is no chat bubble. If I edit in Excel locally the Skypoe for Business is integrated it is just the Online version which refuses to work. Please see my screenshot with Excel Online open, along with Skype for Business, but still no chat bubble
You are correct, in my original post I said SharePoint Folder but I mean SharePoint Library.
