Serious Issue - OneDrive/SharePoint Mess Up

We are on office-365 tenant and office-products (word, excel etc) installed from office-365 as well.

So my Excel was into 'stopped responding' death spiral AGAIN (hard to count how many times) I have come to terms with this and reserved 2 hours every month to do the 'online repair' :(.

Anyways I did the online repair and after that the office-applications were working fine for a day and then today morning one of my excel document (in my OneDrive folder on c: drive) started opening in 'read only mode' without any warning or error messages. In read only mode I could see the changes I made on 12/20/2017. To get around the problem the first option was to see if restarting the machine works....during the shutdown it installed about 10 pending windows updates which is fine.  After the restart when I see my file which earlier had 12/20 changes are now revereted back to 12/01 version. When I see the upload center it shows the file was uploaded on 12/20 and when I see OneDrive "online" (instead of the OneDrive folder on my c drive), I do see the 12/20 version there (but with a different time than what the Upload Center shows). Please see the screens shots below.

Things like this can lead to unimaginable chaos.

OneDrive Folder on my C: Drive showing the date of 12/01/2017:

Upload Center showing the upload done on 12/20/2017:

OneDrive "Online" showing 12/20/2017 version but with a different time than Upload Center.

Just to add to above, In Excel where it shows the recently worked files, there it shows the file listed twice (one with my C drive address and other with OneDrive address) but with different "times", please see screen shot below. The Upload Center continue to show the 12/20/2017 version. Appreciate ideas on setting me on the right track.

    Thanks.
