Legal hold after E3 license is removed
Scenario: 1. assigned E3 license to user and enabled legal hold 2. user resigned and profile was deleted - E3 license was removed while legal hold is on Question - can ediscovery still...

Deleting a user with mailbox having holds or litigation hold will result to "Inactive Mailbox" in Exchange Online. Inactive mailboxes can be searched/included in eDiscovery cases.

Note also that if the hold applied to mailbox is released, inactive mailbox will be deleted permanently. And of course, after permanent deletion mailbox becomes unsearchable.
