so much rubbish provided by so called experts that offer highly complex solutions without asking enough questions.

Just tried to add a gmail account to my laptop I am taking overseas. Got this error. Followed the thread and felt this was probably misleading. I then noticed on my desktop the same account already added would not sync with the server. Hmmmm. I had recently (minutes ago) allowed google account to add a Passkey as I read google was recommending this approach to avoid hackers.

So, I removed all passkeys from that Google Account. Voila! It now syncs again on Desktop and I can add on laptop. Won't be using passkeys any time soon based on this revelation.

This lack of cooperation between tech giants should be the centre of anti-trust suits against them all. They are just trying to force you to use their product sets exclusively. And coach support staff to NOT provide the obvious answers so you get frustrated and give up.
