Outlook: Adding Gmail Acct. Error: "We couldn't log on to the incoming (POP/IMAP) server...
The problem was solved by this method

i guess microsoft no longer cares about anyone not willing to use only microsoft accounts. I have this issues. One google for business is ok but one personal gmail account will not log in. have even tried resinding access from the google account for the microsoft account to access the google account and still no go. way to break the world Microsoft.
Yeap, I believe that is true unfortunately. I still have found no workable solution, and support is non existing, so as soon as my subscription is over, no more renewals from me.
So after trying the Control Panel to get to legacy add interface and failing, I deleted all the .ost and such and started outlook in safe mode and that allowed me to complete the add.
