Migrating to Microsoft365
Hello,
I am needing some guidance in migrating share folders from a Synolgy NAS to Microsoft365 SharePoint. Currently files live within the Synology NAS and are shared to staff through the network. Some staff also have VPN access to the network so they can remotely access the NAS for files. We are wanting to go away from this setup and migrate the NAS files into a SharePoint site so that the files can be shared from there. I have read some about Migration Manager and see where it requires downloading and installing a migration agent on each device. I have some questions that I hope I can get some guidance on.
Does this agent only need to be installed on the computer that runs the NAS?
Is there a way to link the employee's local desktop login to their Microsoft365 account so that when they log into any desktop in the office, they have immediate access to their files, email, etc. from Microsoft365?
- Hi,
My two cents:
(1) Migration Manager agents can be installed on any PC/Server with NAS visibility, i.e, the folders in the NAP can be accessed through as a network share
(2) To have SSO with your PCs in Microsoft 365 you can join the PCs to Microsoft Entra ID
