Effect of UPN change on sharing links
- Sep 05, 2017
Yes, Mary's previously shared files will not be accessible by others within tenant and outside tenant as URL of shared files have changed because the UPN changed. Others shared files to Mary can still be accessible by her as these didn't changed.
Thanks for the quick response Aljohn.
Just to be clear, if the user who has her UPN changed is Mary, are you saying the files that Mary has previously shared will not be accessible by others, or she will not be able to access files that others have previously shared with her, or both.
Will the same be true both within Mary's tenant and between tenants?

The shared links containing the users UPN is creating a lot of problems for us as we are merging to anorher domain, resulting in all shared items lost in space.... Why use a variable in a constant string?? UPN’s are not static when merging to new domains and should never have been used as part of a shared link.
