Cannot Activate (re-Activate) Office 365 Products After Changing Account Email Address
I have a family subscription for Office 365. I am the primary account holder and had it installed and working on my laptop. I changed my account email address and now the office products show unlicensed on my laptop. I logged out of the account and logged back in. Tried to click the Activate Product and Update License and it prompts for the account email again and when I click next comes back with an dialog that it is having trouble activating.

Not sure if this will apply in your scenario but worth a try:

I found that solution and tried it but the only thing it changed was outlook first shows a message that I have Microsoft 365 but when I click the get started button it put a red banner that features are disabled because it has not been activated. When I click activate it returns to the outlook ui and the title bar shows unlicensed and most features are disabled.
in word when it starts it says it is not activated and when I click activate it puts up a dialog that it could not activate.
Please take a look at the following:
1. Verify Your Microsoft Account
- Ensure that the new email address is correctly set as the primary alias for your Microsoft account.
- Log in to the Microsoft Account page to confirm the changes.
2. Sign Out and Sign Back In
- Open any Office application (e.g., Word or Excel).
- Go to File > Account > Sign Out.
- Close the application, reopen it, and sign in using the updated email address.
3. Reactivate Office
- In the same Account section, click Activate Product or Update License.
- Follow the prompts to reactivate Office using the updated account credentials.
4. Check Subscription Status
- Ensure that your Office 365 subscription is active and associated with the new email address.
- You can verify this under Services & Subscriptions on the Microsoft Account page.
