Ads on Outlook for IOS

Hoping someone here can point me in the right direction.  As of this week, I have been receiving ads in Outlook on both my iPhone and iPad.  I have an active subscription to MS 365.  I even deleted the account and Outlook then reinstalled.  I have used MS 365 for years and never experienced this issue with the IOS apps.  My sister-in-law who has her own MS 365 subscription is also experiencing the same thing on her devices.  No ads appear on the PC version.  We both use Comcast/Xfinity for our mail service if that helps.

Thanks in advance for anything you can do to assist.

I’m facing the same issue. I have an MS365 subscription but still can’t block the ads. It’s really frustrating since I thought the subscription would remove them. Have you found any solution yet?

Nothing yet.  In the meantime I switched over to the Mail app in iOS.  It is incredibly disappointing.  Even if you try to report the problem via the app, it goes nowhere or is ignored.

The same here, since the Jan2025 Update unremovable ads. Removed the account (gmail) where I have the 365 subscribtion and added again. Reinstalled app. Cleaned cache.  Nothing works. I guess microsoft is innthe ad business now 💩

BobONeil So had the same problem on the Microsoft 365 app. The solution was simple though not at all what it should be. In the ad banner click the three dots and simply click on the Go Premium button. It will see you have and account and immediately remove the ads. Why you need to do it this way and not thru settings makes absolutely no sense nor does the fact that your already signed in and the app just seems to stupid to realize it without another unintuitive step to fix it. My guess is it’s a sneaky way to have their cake and eat it too. Most people use their accounts so little that they wouldn’t spend the time trying to find a fix if they even noticed at all and MS gets to keep their money and those sweet sweet ad revenues.

Thanks for the response. I clicked the 3 dots and the only options I get are
Why did I get this ad? or Hide ad and of course Cancel. Go Premium is not an option for me.

BobONeil That’s weird. I literally just did it today. Maybe hit hide ad and see if it does what mine did.

This is an unusual situation, especially since you have an active Microsoft 365 subscription. Typically, ads in Outlook are only shown for free accounts. Here are some steps you can try to resolve this issue:

Update the app first, before applying solutions

    1)Check your account type:

Open Outlook on your iOS device
Go to Settings > Your Account
Verify that it shows as a Microsoft 365 account, not a free account

    2) Check if subscription expired
Visit this link   https://account.microsoft.com/services   to check the status of your subscription and ensure it hasn’t expired.

3)Sign out and sign back in:

In the Outlook app, go to Settings
    Select your account
Scroll down and tap "Delete Account"
Restart the app and add your account again

Thank you for your reply. My subscription is good and auto-renews. I have also deleted and reinstalled as well as deleting the account and redoing. My question is regarding your first tip. My account shows IMAP account. If I want to create a MS account it wants it to be an Outlook.com account or MS Exchange account, neither of which works with my Xfinity. I see no option for Microsoft 365 account. Also note this has worked fine for years until about a week before I posted my initial request. Any other suggestions would be welcomed. Thanks again.

BobONeil andrew340 I understand, as we don't have accessed to your device, we always have to understand problem makeup our mind what might be issues, so we hit and try. Sorry, For that.

Now, I understand your problem. I will be suggested to take following steps please do it:

        1.  Sign in to Your Microsoft Account:
          • Visit the Microsoft account sign-in page
          • Log in using the email address associated with your Microsoft 365 subscription.
        2. Navigate to Alias Settings:
          • Once logged in, click on “Your info” or a similar option (the exact wording may vary based on your account settings).
          • Look for an option related to aliases or additional email addresses.
        3. Create an Alias:
          • Click on the option to add an alias.
          • Choose an alias name (e.g., “myname_outlook”) and select the domain (usually “@outlook.com”).
          • Confirm your choice, and the alias will be created.
        4. Verify the Alias:
          • You’ll receive a confirmation email at your primary email address (the one associated with your Microsoft 365 subscription).
          • Open the confirmation email and follow the instructions to verify the alias.
        5. Add the Alias to Outlook on iOS:
          • Open the Outlook app on your iPhone or iPad.
          • Go to the account settings section (usually found in the app’s settings or preferences).
          • Add the newly created alias as an account in Outlook.
        6. Enjoy an Ad-Free Experience:
          • Once added, emails sent to the alias will appear in your Outlook app.
          • The alias account should provide an ad-free experience.

Remember that aliases are useful for managing different purposes (e.g., personal, work, subscriptions) without cluttering your primary inbox. If you encounter any issues during this process, feel free to ask for further assistance! Pleased Give us rating if it solves, it is your choice completely

I have the same problem. Is Microsoft that nasty that despite paying for a subscription we still have to put up with ads?

Kind of hard to believe so few are having this problem.  Would have hoped that someone had a solution.
