App password for service account when using Security Defaults
We are using M365 Business Standard licenses and have security defaults enabled. We need to have a service account setup to allow devices (printers, scanners, etc...) to send mail outside our tenant. I cannot find a way to setup an app password or exclude this account from MFA since we can't use conditional access. Is there a way to do this without disabling security defaults? Hoping I'm missing something here.
Thanks!
- Security defaults are "all or nothing", you cannot selectively disable them for specific accounts.
Not suggest to bypass security defaults, refer to this on app password:
- tcboeiraBrass ContributorAlthough it is not a recommended practice, you can access it like this:
Access:
https://account.activedirectory.windowsazure.com/UserManagement/MultifactorVerification.aspx
Locate your account and disable MFA.
Remember: It is not a recommended practice. It would be ideal to look for other forms of authentication...
