Unable to sign in to my microsoft account (No Network Connection)

Hi good folks, I hope somebody out there can help me. I normally use Excel a phenominal amount, but recently downgraded (due to horrendous price increase) from Microsoft 365 to Microsoft Basic. I haven't used Excel for maybe a week. Now today, I keep getting told I am not signed in, but when I try to sign in, I get 'No Network Connection' error messages and I am unable to use Excel in any way shape or form. Nothing works!!!!

I have for Months not been able to save my work to OneDrive as again, I was not signed in. All I got was the wheel going round and round and round indefinately saying 'signing in', but it never did.

 HELP!!!!!!!!!!

I fear this may be a laptop problem rather than a Microsoft problem as I get the same type of messages on the majority of Edge websites. I primarily use Firefox and I am using that to write this

I am an OAP and not very proficient on computers, so please answer in simple language.

Is there a phone number for Microsift I can call?

I recommend addressing the error message first concerning expired credentials.

First, in Excel go to File | Account and choose to Sign Out of your M365. If there's a 'Fix' button or another message, ignore it for now. Also, don't try signing back in immediately.

Next, go to the credentials manager and clear any mention of 'Office' in Windows credentials.

Here's a good source on how to do it:

Credential Manager in Windows - Microsoft Support

After you've cleared the stored credentials, open Excel and attempt to login when prompted. If not prompted, go to File | Account and choose to sign in.  If the error persists, restart the computer and then try again.

  • Would suggest trying the following before reaching out to Microsoft support:

    1. Check the Internet connection say browse to www.microsoft.com
    2. Try signing in using a different browser
