Stock Data Types Wont Refresh - Provides Erroneous Error Message
I have an Excel workbook I created a few months ago and this afternoon while I was away, the "stocks" data type refresh feature stopped refreshing. The error message I receive instructs me to sign in to an account associated with this product (Excel), but I am clearly signed in. To be sure, I sign out and sign back in. Hit 'refresh' and receive the same error message. MS tech support tried to make a manual repair during a chat session, but it still will not refresh. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem. Stock data type won't refresh. It's requesting me to sign in, which i've done a number of times. Something is wrong with Microsoft data types.

forbisher This functionality continues to be broken for me as well. I have tried the usual remediation techniques of signing out and back in, sometimes rebooting in between to no avail. I'm currently on the "Microsoft 365 Insider" channel. I have noticed two interesting things in my attempts to get this working:
1) At one point, I had an "Unlicensed Product" message on the title bar - even though I was signed in. Took a few attempts to get rid of this.
2) Using a different laptop, with Microsoft 365 but not on the Insider channel and logging in does work.
- mwmacleanCopper Contributori think you are onto something there.
Insider should be re-named to expendable guinea pigs
i am removing myself from that category if this is the level of urgency provided to their cutting edge users.- CatpurrnicusCopper ContributorAgreed - I had wondered about getting on to the Insider channel but I did want to play with lambda expressions - oh well.
As for removing myself from the Insider channel, it's unfortunately a little more involved. I tried to remove myself but then had it display a pop up indicating that the "regular" software would only be pushed out on the next update. Not exactly useful for an immediate fix. I suppose to only recourse after leaving the Insider channel is to uninstall Office365/Excel and then reinstall...grrr
- j1bissigCopper ContributorI am having the same issue. It started at noon time on July 10th. (Central) JB

Same issue on both Mac and Windows instance. Definitively looks like a backend issue. Anyone from Microsoft replied yet?
- soccermom214Copper ContributorI too had the error show up yesterday 7/10/23 sometime in the middle of the day. Unfortunately, this is time #2!!!! Back in November the EXACT SAME error randomly showed up and it took Microsoft until JANUARY to issue an update that actually restored the data functionality for stocks. This is completely UNACCEPTABLE! The first time I thought maybe it was connected to an update that had a bad sector to it that affected the data type update or lack thereof. But, this time I have been very careful not to update my Excel since the January update because I don't trust that they are running the appropriate checks to ensure all functionality is smooth with each update. I really hope they get this resolved sooner than 3 months. I'm using the Mac version.
- cnr002Brass ContributorSame issue, wish Microsoft would acknowledge and provide an update. No a fan of subscriptions, but only signed up for the stock data type. Have had similar issues befor for 3 days, now again for 2. Not very reliable!
