Sort/Dropdown Dialog

This question is probably very rudimentary for many but I cannot figure out how to create this type of dropdown box. Any assistance is appreciated

rfvanb It's a simple filter button that you can put on the top row of any data range (no empty rows or columns) by clicking on Sort & Filter, then Filter in the Home ribbon.

That said, when you create a structured Excel table from a regular range by pressing cmd-T (indicate if the range has headers or not), Excel will create the filter buttons for you.

Alternatively, select the data range and then press Table on in the Tables group on the Insert ribbon.

HansVogelaar That specific template comes up on a Mac only. Can't see it on the PC.

It looks like a filter drop-down to me.

Select any cell in the data, then select Sort & Filter > Filter in the Editing group on the Home tab of the ribbon.

It's not totally clear what you mean, but I'm assuming it's actually what's called Data Validation, which can be used to generate a drop down list of acceptable values. Here's a reference that should help.

thank you for your feedback....I should have mentioned this before but this dialog box is from an Excel template call Track My Tasks and can be found when you go to open a new XLSX. It's likely data validation but the template does not use, that I can find, a separate spreadsheet to enter data choice options...Hope this clarifies somewhat
