Print to PDF issues both Adobe Printer (AdobePDF) and Acrobat PDF Maker - borders too thick

This might be more of an Adobe PostScript or Acrobat Distiller Error or Microsoft Office translation to PDF (or a mixture of both), but before I dive in, here are my software details.

  • Adobe PostScript software version: 3018.101
  • Adobe Acrobat Pro 2022.003.20322 (64-bit) - Windows 11 Pro
  • Excel for 365 MSO Version 2301 Build 16.0.16026.20196 64-bit
  • Fonts were installed from the original author, and did not do a drag and drop. I opened every single font and used the "install" prompt, then verified the font in it's location
  • Uninstalled system fonts from windows folder and then Used Alternate Font Activation sources like Adobe Fonts > Search for font > Select activate fonts (literally found the same exact font but trying to use Adobe as the font manager)
  • Several reboots and starting brand new excel/word files before every re-attempt.

When selecting Adobe PDF as a printer in Excel, I have some fonts (both .OTF and .TTF) that are installed in the C:\Windows\Fonts folder (which Adobe Distiller confirms the correct filepath). However, when attempting to print to Adobe PDF printer, it replaces all fonts with Courier.

The second attempt to use Adobe PDF printer, is going to preferences and unchecking "Rely on system fonts only; do not use document fonts" , but then I get an error

%%[ ProductName: Distiller ]%%
%%[ Error: invalidfont; OffendingCommand: definefont; ErrorInfo: StemSnapH --nostringval-- ]%%

Stack:
/Font
-dict-
/ADCFAA+Montserrat-Hairline

%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%

Now, some would say "Just use Save as Adobe PDF"  (Acrobat PDFMaker)... there's a slight tradeoff... it perfectly renders the fonts, but if I use any decorative borders or shading, it significantly reduces the quality (also ignores border thinness and dash dotted lines just get meshed).

  • NOTE: Using the File > Save as > drop down and select PDF virtually produces the same low quality outcome as the Save as Adobe PDF version

For border issues see the word doc where I took snapshots to compare the thickness issue.

Looking for a solution that both gets me correctly rendered fonts plus accurate border styles, thickness, etc.
