MS Excel Flash Fill and Filtering Option with VBA .
Attached is an older example (Excel 97) with VBA.
You only need to type letters in the drop down box and it will show you all existing ones with those letters for you to select.
I'm not sure if this is exactly what you're looking for, but it might help.
Haven't tried it in Excel 365.
