LET – Names in formulas for Excel

Hello all,

I'm excited to share with you a new function that has been recently released, Names in formulas or =LET().  The LET function will now allow you to name and then use a calculation or value in your formulas. This will allow you to increase both readability and performance. This function is available to Office Insiders running Insider Fast builds on Windows and Mac. For more details on how to use the LET function, check out our latest blog post.

Cheers,

Evan

Evan_Bolin Trying to test new LET function Excel for Mac. Downloaded FAST version. Now: Version 16.41 (20081900). Function is not there. Article says I should have it: https://insider.office.com/en-us/blog/let-names-in-formulas-for-excel. Thoughts?

      Hello bScottS

At this time, this feature is currently only available to a portion of Office Insiders while we continue to optimize this feature over the next several months. You may gain access to the function after installing future updates.

      Thanks,

      Evan

Evan_Bolin One more thing, for what it's worth. I didn't even have the FAST version of Excel installed, only PRODUCTION, but this morning I received an announcement about the new LET function from Excel, and that's why I started looking into it and downloaded the FAST version. It seems that Microsoft shouldn't be having new feature pop-ups happening in Excel if the feature is not yet available.

Great Function... Though, some of us have laid hands on it and used it, we still look forward to its general availability to Microsoft 365 channels so that our clients can have it and learn to use it.

    Cheers

Abiola1, glad to hear you've enjoyed using the new formula. We're also looking forward to getting this feature available to a wider audience. As always, feel free to submit any feedback about the new formula through Excel.

      Cheers,

      Evan
