I need Excell Help

I am new to Excell and have been reading into conditional Formatting and need help. I have only a certain number of cells in one column that I want to apply this formatting to. I want the blank cells to turn to the shaded color I choose when any kind of text is entered. I have got to the point where you enter the value but don't know what to enter?

IF you can help me I will be greatly thankful!

Select the cells that you want to format conditionally.

On the Home tab of the ribbon, select Conditional Formatting > New Rule...

Select 'Format only cells that contain'.

Leave the first drop-down set to 'Cell Value'.

Select 'not equal to' from the second drop-down.

In the box next to it, enter the formula   =""

    Click Format...

    Activate the Fill tab.

    Select a color.

Click OK, then click OK again.

Do you want to color a cell with one color when any text is entered, or does the color depend on which text is entered?
