header / footer: insert current date & current time
I tried to select from Header/Footer option for current date & current time. The option appears to have disappeared. So, I tried the MS suggestion =NOW() - but the time appears a a 24 hour clock. I want the AM/PM to be shown. Then I went to; format cells, chose the AM/PM type of display and it still does not work. If anyone could explain this simply I'd sure appreciate it. jsicNP In reference to the Page Setup screenshot you shared, just click the "Custom Header..." or "Custom Footer..." button. The dialog box that opens contains the buttons to insert Date and Time. The code used for Date and Time within Headers/Footers is &[Date] and &[Time]. Also worth mentioning, the date format used in Headers/Footers is based on the Regional & Language Settings on your computer and cannot be customize directly in Excel.
Switch to Page Layout view.
Click in a header or footer. This should activate the Header & Footer tab of the ribbon.
The Header & Footer Elements group of this tab contains buttons to insert the Current Date, Current Time and more.

- I may know why - this excel spreadsheet was created by someone else. Perhaps I have to unlock something? I just opened a new spreadsheet and did not have this issue. Any suggestions.
