Formula Help

Hello, I am working on a project and using excel to forecast and track milestones. I am looking for a formula that will add 7 days to another cell, unless another cell has a date, then add 7 days to the date that is in that cell.

Can anyone help?

  • Assuming your first row of data begins in cell A4, the task 2 forecast formula in column C4 could be:

    =IF($B4>””, $B4+7, $A4+7)

Charla74 One problem I have with this formula is that when I drag the formula down the column it changes to 1/7/1900 if there is no date in B4...

Try this one where we now check that A4 is not blank before calculating - if A4 is blank it should now return a blank result:

        =IF($B4>””, $B4+7, IF($A4>””, $A4+7, “”))

Charla74 THANK YOU!!!! That works perfectly... You saved me a concussion from banging my head to figure it out. SO the >"" is what points to the blank cell? If I wanted it to look for a 5, I would put >"5", correct?

Exactly. >”” is looking for anything other than a blank cell and, as you say >5 would be any number, 6 or above.
        Happy I could assist.
