Formatting balance sheet

Hi, Im trying to format  a balance sheet...with three columns . Left is debit, middle is credit, right is Balance. How do I format the right hand side to calculate correctly.  I've tried formatting

the balance column for quite some tome ..but not working. I'm used to lotus 123..... and formatting is very different to excel

    Dear William, sorry for the late reply as I've been busy. I had someone from excel help me solve the problem. I was trying to format the right hand  balance column. In case someone else may need to know the formula for a balance sheet it is as follows  for Row 2 .... =E2-D2  For Row3 ...=F2-D3+E3  Then copy and paste the formula to get the balance right through to the end of the column.   Thank you for replying to my message in the effort to help me .

    Hi Michelle 

    Are you talking about a running balance or a balance just for the Row? Both are different.

    Are you trying to format or insert a formula that calculates the balance?
