Excel 2016 64 bit #NAME? issue

I am reviewing a complex multi-sheet 5Mb Workbook for a real estate development. The first time I open the workbook in Protected View all the formulas, results and data display correctly. As soon as I exit Protected View a #NAME? error propagates through the workbook. If I exit without saving and reopen the worksheet the #NAME? error remains. I am running Windows 10 64 bit and I have loads of memory. When I open the workbook on another laptop the error does not occur. What is happening in the setup of my PC or MS Office that is causing this error? Suggestions appreciated.

    Hi Richard,

The #NAME? error means that the function name isn't correct, or the function itself isn't compatible with your current version of Excel.

For example, if you try to use DAYS function in Excel 2010, you will see the same error because it was introduced in Excel 2013.

Also, there are some functions currently exclusive to Excel 2016 with Office 365 subscription such as:

If you try to use these functions in Excel 2016 with the one-time purchase offer, you will see the #NAME? error as well.

    Hope that helps

    Regards
