Drop-Down List + IF function
Is it possible to have a drop-down list of cities that once chosen, the sales tax use in % will populate in a separate cell and that cell will multiply to another cell (subtotal) to create a grand total based on the cities chosen on the drop-down list.

Is it possible?
Yes. Just create a table of city names and associated taxes. Use the city name as the basis for the drop down. I've attached a simple example.

Why does New York show 5% - it should be 8%

I do not know the answer to that.
I re-built the formula (based on mathetes' revised workbook), and it works as intended. For the benefit of those who may refer to this thread, I decided to post a more complete design, with alternatives. See the attached workbook.
