Allow removal of "Copilot Suggestions" from right-click menu

I have been using Excel for decades and CONSTANTLY use the right-click menu for quick access to basic functions (e.g., "Insert"). Ever since "Copilot Suggestions" was added to the drop-down list, it always throws me off due to its placement. I have Microsoft 365 on Windows 11 Pro. I have searched for ways to remove this from appearing there and the result said "go to File > Options > Copilot and uncheck the 'Enable Copilot' box". However, when I attempt to do that, there is NO "Copilot" option available! PLEASE allow removal of "Copilot Suggestions" from the right-click menu OR at least the option to move it to the bottom (so it isn't in the way of things used ALL the time). I realize that Copilot is a great resource for many users, but I am confident in my Excel skills and in my ability to research/learn new skills the "old school" way, so I have little use for this feature now and would prefer to hide it.

You can’t fully remove “Copilot Suggestions” from the right-click menu yet since it’s built into newer Windows updates, but there are a few things you can try. Make sure your system is updated because Microsoft sometimes tweaks these features in newer versions. If you’re comfortable with advanced settings, you can look into registry edits, though you should be careful with that. Another option is using third-party tools to customize or hide context menu items. For now, it seems like Microsoft is still experimenting with Copilot, so better control options might come in future updates.

Thanks for the reply!  Just to be clear, this is in Excel, not Windows, so I'm assuming you meant future Office updates, right?  Just making sure we are on the same page.  I can disable copilot (mostly) in Windows.  It's this new menu that I keep accidentally clicking on that's the issue.  It's requiring me to relearn decades of muscle memory for a feature I do not want.

So despite getting constant complaints by their customers, poor adoption of the feature overall, and a walk-back saying they would more thoughtfully integrate Copilot and remove it where it's not wanted, they still have no way to remove it for PAYING customers.  Open source options looking better and better these days...

copilot is designed to get clicked on accident so that microsoft can pull up a big number of how many times people have opened copilot and say "IT'S A HUGE SUCCESS!!"

they are never going to allow this to happen.

    SAY IT WITH HIM FOLKS;

    MICROSLOP

Please quit forcing this on your users. It should be an optional thing. If people want it they'll turn it on. If people don't want it we shouldn't have to turn it off.

    Completely agree.

I already uninstalled copilot from my computer, and removed it off my ribbon Office apps ribbons.

I don't need to see this thing mentioned anywhere else.

    I have a "Copilot Suggestions".

CAN EXCEL STOP CONVERTING LONG NUMBERS INTO "SCIENTIFIC NOTATION"?

Having a table of serial numbers that looks like this is beyond idiotic.

But sure Excel, add more slop features like "Copilot Suggestions". Microslop you are regarded.

I believe you can turn this off in the settings.

File --> Options --> Data --> Under Automatic Data Conversion, uncheck the box that says "Keep first 15 digits of long number and display in scientific notation"

There are other options that might be helpful there as well.

It also affects long ID numbers. Really any number that's longer than 8 characters.

Drives us nuts in medical/care services, too. It breaks our CSV files constantly by assuming it knows better than we do how our data should be formatted. But of course, what we need its to make sure Copilot is on your PC and linked to every application, so people are implicitly encouraged to feed sensitive data into it. That's what we need to do. /s

I also want this removed as it serves no purpose.  Adding this "feature" with no way to remove it shows how little MS cares about its user base.

this is such an asinine addition. Copilot can't even accurately read data, how could it have a useful suggestion??

    Hellokchecketts,

There is currently no supported way to remove or move the "Copilot Suggestions" item from Excel’s right-click menu. Microsoft only provides the option to disable Copilot entirely. If your Excel build shows the Copilot setting, go to File > Options > Copilot and uncheck Enable Copilot, then restart Excel. If your build does not show this option, there is no official method to hide the right-click entry. I don't have the option. There being no option to remove all these microslop "features" is horrible. It is deliberately placed to disrupt workflow in order to try and get more usage. It's the same with every microsoft program. You should at least be honest and say that the ai options being disruptive is deliberate and will not be changing soon, not that there just randomly isn't a way to restore it for reasons no one can control or understand.

We already know there is no supported way to remove it we're asking for a supported way to be created.

Yes please this is driving me crazy, it's right where I expect the 'insert' option to be.
