I have a "Copilot Suggestions".
CAN EXCEL STOP CONVERTING LONG NUMBERS INTO "SCIENTIFIC NOTATION"?

Having a table of serial numbers that looks like this is beyond idiotic.
But sure Excel, add more slop features like "Copilot Suggestions". Microslop you are regarded.

I believe you can turn this off in the settings.
File --> Options --> Data --> Under Automatic Data Conversion, uncheck the box that says "Keep first 15 digits of long number and display in scientific notation"
There are other options that might be helpful there as well. - kcorbenApr 10, 2026Copper Contributor
It also affects long ID numbers. Really any number that's longer than 8 characters.
Drives us nuts in medical/care services, too. It breaks our CSV files constantly by assuming it knows better than we do how our data should be formatted. But of course, what we need its to make sure Copilot is on your PC and linked to every application, so people are implicitly encouraged to feed sensitive data into it. That's what we need to do. /s
