Certification requirement to sell and implement MS Dynamics 365
- Oct 20, 2025
There's no (certification) requirement to sell licenses, you just need to enroll for the CSP Program: Enroll in the Cloud Solution Provider Program - Partner Center | Microsoft Learn.
Find a local CSP Distributor that can help with that: Find an indirect provider.
If you're looking for the Solutions Partner Designation Skilling requirements, they're here: Solutions Partner for Business applications - Partner Center | Microsoft Learn
I guess the screenshot provided is from an old MPA? As the products listed like D365 PSA and D365 Plan 1 are very old products which do not exist anymore (for a few years now). And it also does not include products like D365 Business Central or any of the D365 Unified Operations suit licenses. Which is weird, as to me it makes more sense for those product than for the D365 Customer Engagement products listed.
So check the latest version of the MPA is this requirement is still there. I doubt it :)
I still think there's no partner requirement for selling and implementing D365 from a Microsoft's point of view. Besides the normal CSP requirements of course.
I should have been clearer that the words were taken from the latest October 2025 version of the MPA, which all Direct and Indirect whether new or existing are bound by.
I agree that the list of limited licenses is not current.
I would disagree about not having technical capability. This is something we as a D365 partner are most concerned about. We have 'license shop' partners that will sell anything at very low margin to anyone with zero intention of supporting the customer. This is not what CSP is supposed to be.
I would rather Microsoft expand this list of licenses to include Business Central.
A must say though, that I have never seen or heard of Microsoft enforcing this. So, it does seem the terms are not enforced.

Since we're an CSP Distributor, I do not have insights on the CSP Direct or CSP Indirect Reseller MPAs, so that's a good addition! Seems that even the current MPAs do not represent the latest licenses/products, which would make sense to have updated. And indeed, I've never seen this being enforced on our Indirect Resellers... something to think about microsoft? 🤔
I fully agree with the notion of Nick, selling and implementing D365 is not an easy task. Regardless of what Microsoft do(esn't) require partners to have on capabilities. I also do highly recommend to get both the technical-, but mostly the business/consulting knowledge in place. As D365 is something completely different from M365 and requires different types of people (business consultants instead of engineers) to implement correctly.
We see allot of license shops as well, which is definitely not helping the customers on the long run. Customers need more support than just cheap transactional licenses for D365 products.

Hi all,
Agree that the requirements around D365 as mentioned in the MPA are a bit outdated.
small recap via copilot based on MPA v6:
Certification Requirements
- For the following Dynamics 365 products:
- Dynamics 365 for Sales, Enterprise edition
- Dynamics 365 for Customer Service, Enterprise edition
- Dynamics 365 for Project Service Automation, Enterprise edition
- Dynamics 365 for Field Service, Enterprise edition
- Dynamics 365 Plan 1
2. Competency Requirements
- The partner must maintain the MAICPP Competency for Cloud Customer Relationship Management. [MPA-v6]
3. Program Membership
- The partner must be a registered and active member of the Microsoft AI Cloud Partner Program (MAICPP).
Old licenses, and very old CRM competency requirement which has not been updated since the competencies moved to SPD's.
Regards,
Martijn
