Microsoft's Copilot: A Frustrating Flop in AI-Powered Productivity
Microsoft's Copilot was supposed to be the game-changer in productivity, but it's quickly proving to be a massive disappointment. The idea was simple: integrate AI directly into Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other Office tools to make our lives easier. But when it comes to actually performing specific functions, Copilot falls flat. Here’s the problem: when you ask Copilot to alter a document, modify an Excel file, or adjust a PowerPoint presentation, it’s practically useless. Instead of performing the tasks as requested, it often leaves you hanging with vague suggestions or instructions. Users don't want to be told how to perform a task—they want it done. This is what an AI assistant should do: execute commands efficiently, not just offer advice. What makes this even more frustrating is that other AI tools, like ChatGPT, can handle these tasks effortlessly. When you ask ChatGPT to perform a specific function, it does so without hesitation. It’s able to understand the request and deliver exactly what’s needed. But Copilot? It struggles with the basics, and that’s unacceptable, especially from a company like Microsoft. It’s frankly embarrassing that Microsoft can’t get this right. The whole point of integrating AI into these tools was to streamline workflows and boost productivity. But if Copilot can’t even manage simple tasks like formatting a document or adjusting a spreadsheet, then what’s the point? Users don’t need another tool that tells them how to do something—they need one that does it for them. Microsoft, you’ve missed the mark with Copilot. It's not just a minor inconvenience; it's a serious flaw that undermines the value of your Office suite. When other AI tools can easily accomplish what Copilot can't, it's time to reevaluate. Hi All, We're currently using Copilot for Microsoft 365 in our business and I'm finding it incredibly annoying when Copilot tells me this. "Sorry, this conversation has reached its limit. Let's start a new chat." When I asked Copilot why, this is what I receive. "The message “Sorry, this conversation has reached its limit. Let’s start a new chat.” means that the current conversation has reached the maximum number of turns or messages allowed. Each conversation with me, Copilot Pro, has a limit on the number of turns it can take. Once this limit is reached, the conversation cannot continue further in the same thread. Starting a new chat will initiate a new conversation where you can continue to ask questions or request assistance. This is a measure to ensure optimal performance and user experience. I hope this clarifies your query! 😊" When I asked Copilot what the limit is, this is what I receive. "I’m sorry, but I can’t provide the exact number of turns or messages allowed in a conversation. The limit is set to ensure optimal performance and user experience. However, once the limit is reached, you can always start a new conversation. Please let me know if there’s anything else I can assist you with! 😊" I'd love to understand the logic for such a limitation. Can anyone kindly explain this is plain simple English please? Thanks! I have seen a few articles on this website, and I know it's not possible but I'm going to ask anyway. For reference this is what I'm referring to: It's more I find the little thing following me around on my screen to be annoying and distracting, I've managed to hide or disable anything related to copilot on my system except this little dingbat. When a new document is open you get a little message that says "Select the icon or press Alt + i to draft with copilot" It would be nice if I could hide that as well, yes copilot is a *feature*, and I don't care about it. I also want to hide the paste with copilot and just used the local paste options that were built into previous versions of word. I suspect that there is a copilot dingbat that is stored somewhere on my system, possibly in a font, and as I have already made a few detrimental modifications to my operating system registry, I'm not wary of messing up my computer any more than it could be. The only saving grace I have at the moment is there is an issue with my account, so any accidental triggering of the feature causes it to crap out. (So long as I don't accidentally press the 'fix account" button) I know that if it was easy to turn off there would be a button for it, I know Microsoft probably wants us to use this feature because it means more data for them to collect, an I'm disappointed in the loss of user agency that's resulted from this rollout, and there's a spike in animosity towards AI in general.
Microsoft CoPilot error message - Something went wrong
I have asked an open-ended question for copilot in MS Word to write a research report using the company's financial statements as a reference file. I provided the financial statements in Word format as a reference file (In MS Word format and its approximately 77 pages of text, numbers, images etc. so its large). It generated content for about 3.5 pages and then stopped and displayed an error message. When I try to regenerate I get the message below: Its like it 'times out' or the job is too big for it to process. Can anyone explain what the cause for this is and if you experience the same issue when referencing a large file?Welcome to the Microsoft 365 Copilot community!

I have an M365 E3 license, and my user has a copilot license enabled. However, I do not see this as an option to enable in any application under options. I can use copilot through Bing chat...etc. and copilot app in windows just not through any m365 app through Windows app, Mac app, or web.
Copilot on Word App on iPad - how to turn off?
I’ve managed to turn the wretched thing off on Word on my desktop and laptop after updating to latest versions and the “disable co-pilot “ checkbox finally appearing in settings. but how on earth do I turn it off on my iPad as it doesn’t have a whole load of settings for the app? I have office 365 personal subscription. #co-pilot
Change Default for Copilot Automatic Room Rebooking Setting in Outlook?
My users with Microsoft 365 Copilot licenses have noticed a newer feature that automatically rebooks meetings with an alternate room if the selected room is unavailable. It appears that this setting is on by default and can be turned off on a per case basis when a new meeting event is being scheduled. Is there a way to turn it off by default and allow people to enable it when a new calendar item is being created instead? Here is what it looks like for me in Outlook. I can click on Edit from the new meeting window and turn it off for a single event. I haven't found a way to change that default behavior. Has anyone found a way to adjust this? Thank you! Brian
