Critical Edge Sync issue after Win11Pro reinstall – incomplete rehydration
A - ENGLISH VERSION Critical Edge Sync issue after Windows 11 Pro reinstall – incomplete rehydration, Device Info = 5, modules stuck Hello, I am experiencing a major issue with Microsoft Edge synchronization after a full reinstall of Windows 11 Pro. Despite multiple reinstalls, several days of waiting, and all possible local troubleshooting steps, Edge Sync remains incomplete, and none of my historical data is rehydrated. Below is the full context, timeline, symptoms, technical observations, and questions. 1) Full chronological context 1.1 – Full PC reset Clean Windows 11 Pro reinstall Sign‑in with Microsoft personal account Windows Insider Program activated (Beta channel) 1.2 – Edge Beta installed automatically Edge Beta was installed automatically without warning. I suspected it might be the cause of the incomplete sync. 1.3 – Leaving the Insider Program I left Insider only to try restoring full Edge synchronization. 1.4 – New Windows 11 Pro 25H2v2 reinstall Clean install Edge Stable installed Sync enabled Several days of waiting 1.5 – Result: sync still incomplete Even on Edge Stable, historical data never returns. 2) Symptoms 2.1 – Missing data No previous tab groups restored Incomplete history “Other devices” sessions missing Passwords visible in settings but not rehydrated No data from my previous Windows 11 PC 2.2 – Sync modules stuck In edge://sync-internals: Saved Tab Group: frozen for days Passwords: “Running” but no data rehydrated Sessions: incomplete Typed URLs / History: partial 2.3 – Device Info = 5 The cloud still lists 5 devices, including my previous Windows 11 installation. This indicates that historical data should be available. 2.4 – Last Synced active Sync is active, but missing data is never returned. 3) Technical diagnosis Everything points to a “consistent but incomplete” cloud profile state: Client sync works Server reports sync as healthy Historical data is never rehydrated Critical modules remain stuck Issue reproduces across multiple devices (Win10, Win11) This suggests a server‑side Edge Sync profile corruption, or a metadata divergence after: Insider → Stable channel change Windows reinstall Local profile deletion Edge Beta auto‑installation Microsoft account reconnection 4) Key question: Is Edge Beta limited in synchronization? I would like an official clarification: → Does Edge Beta restrict any sync modules? → Are Saved Tab Group, Sessions, or Passwords limited in Edge Beta? → Are there backend differences between Edge Stable and Edge Beta? If Edge Beta is not the cause, I will gladly re‑enable my Insider profile. I left Insider only to attempt restoring full sync. 5) Request I kindly request: → A backend analysis of my Edge Sync profile, to check: metadata integrity module states device list consistency possible corruption ability to rehydrate historical data I can provide: sync‑internals screenshots logs additional details multi‑device testing Thank you very much for your help.
Microsoft is deprecating the 'Collections' feature in Edge, but there is currently no export option available for personal Microsoft accounts. This creates a serious problem for users who rely heavily on Collections for research, organization, and long‑term workflows. In my case, I have 166 main Collections, each containing dozens of items. Migrating this manually is simply impossible/undoable. ‼️ Please Microsoft: provide an official export tool (HTML, JSON, or migration to Favorites/Bing Saves) before removing the feature. Without this, users risk losing years of structured work and saved content. This is essential for anyone who has used Collections as a core part of their workflow.96Views1like1CommentPasskey Sync from Microsoft Password Manager in Edge to Windows Hello plugin availability?
When the Passkey syncing feature in Edge using Microsoft Password Manager was unveiled, it was also announced that a plugin would be made available to sync the Passkeys to Windows devices for other browsers and apps to use: https://blogs.windows.com/msedgedev/2025/11/03/microsoft-edge-introduces-passkey-saving-and-syncing-with-microsoft-password-manager/#:~:text=Can%20I%20use%20passkeys%20created,is%20coming%20soon%20on%20Windows. Is the plugin available somewhere to test? I have searched Settings and Edge Extensions store but no success. Anyone here with an idea on same?77Views1like2Comments"Microsoft Edge rounded corners" flag

Good day. Since the last Edge update, I have not been able to save pdf files(editable pdf). Before when you click save as, and enter a new name, the page referred to the new name. but now, the page refreshes, the content is the new content but the file name remains the same Please, does anyone know how to solve the issue?21KViews4likes13CommentsAdd .HEIF support to the Edge browser
What does it do? Like JPEG, HEIF is a standard for lossy digital image compression. It’s a technology for maintaining some quality while keeping file sizes small; compared to a lossless technology like TIFF, which employs little to no compression but file sizes are very large. HEIF maintains the image quality of JPEG but at up to half the size, or offers better quality at the same size. It achieves this by comparing all the data of an image and only saving the areas that are different, instead of every piece of information (it’s more technical than that). HEIF also supports animation, and is capable of storing more information than an animated GIF at a small fraction of the size. it will be helpful if Edge supported this format so websites will be able to use this new format to display still and animated pictures more efficiently. I sent this feature request using feedback button on Edge browser. if you also want this feature, please do the same.18KViews5likes18CommentsUI overflow in extension permission dialog on Linux (Gnome)
When installing an extension, the permission dialog renders incorrectly and overflows its container. The dialog content appears clipped and does not scale properly within the window. This affects usability because parts of the UI (text/buttons) may be partially hidden depending on window size and display scaling. MS Edge version: Version 149.0.3993.0 (Official build) dev (64-bit) To reproduce: Open Microsoft Edge on any Linux distro using Gnome Navigate to the extension store Attempt to install an extension (e.g. AdGuard AdBlocker) Observe the permission popup dialog49Views0likes1CommentWhy new design of MS Edge shows less items on the Workspaces selection list?
I have some 9 frequently used workspaces. When I want to open one of them only 6 are listed so I often must catch the narrow scrollbar to spot and select the right one. When trying to point to the scrollbar I often miss-click one of them. I'd prefer the list to be longer and the blank space between items smaller. Also it is very handy that icons there are respectively colored but it is just narrow lines. If the color appeared at a bigger surface it would be easier to spot the right one (like e.g. if one of the 3 sheets of the icon was filled). Mabye, making the list size parametrizable (6/12/24) or making the second line with tab count just optional (detailed/compact list layout) would solve this inconvenience. Thanks. (Sorry, my company blocked posting feedback from MS Edge directly. That's why I am asking here.)27Views0likes0CommentsEdge Beta 147.0.3912.26: This policy is blocked, its value will be ignored.
Starting with Edge Beta 147.0.3912.26 as well as Edge Dev 148.0.3928.0 I'm facing the problem, that the so called "sensitive policies" (which need an MDM or AD-Joined Device) are blocked. Error-Message in edge://policy/ shows up with: This policy is blocked, its value will be ignored. Using Edge Stable 146.0.3856.84 works fine (on the same machine). Issue is only related to the so called "sensitive policies" and ist clearly new with Edge Beta 147.0.3912.26 as well as Edge Dev 148.0.3928.0 ... I didn't change anything except updating Edge Beta and Edge Dev ... and as I said: Edge Stable still works fine on the same machine. The Release Notes https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/deployedge/microsoft-edge-relnote-beta-channel don't show any new changes regarding those "sensitive Policies". So what happened? Did Microsoft break the Policies with those new Versions?Solved352Views0likes9CommentsDev Version 149.0.3984.0 Crashes When Launching InPrivate Window

Starting with version 134 of the Edge Browser (Windows 10, Edge Stable Version 134.0.3124.51, released March 6, 2025), the functionality of speech recognition (WebSpeechAPI) has been broken. This issue potentially impacts millions of users. Requests to Microsoft servers return a "Network error." For more details, please refer to this ticket: https://github.com/speech-translator-ext/speech-translator-readme/issues/50 An easy way to test speech recognition: https://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/demos/speech.html About Web Speech API: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Web_Speech_API#browser_compatibility PS: It’s also unfortunate that, as a web browser extension developer, the "App Assure" functionality is not available. (App Assure: Facing issues with your business apps or websites on the latest version of Microsoft Edge? Microsoft will help you resolve them at no additional cost.) And in general it's very unclear where to report such issues.Solved16KViews3likes6CommentsEdge Sync Persistent Failure
Subject: Edge Sync Persistent Failure: "Our services aren't available" on syncreset page and Sync Engine stuck on "Initializing" Hi everyone, I’m seeking urgent help regarding a persistent Microsoft Edge sync issue that has lasted for several days across 5 different devices (4 Windows PCs and 1 iOS device). The Symptoms: Sync Engine Deadlock: On all my Windows devices, the edge://sync-internals page shows the Transport State as "Initializing" or "Backed off". The Total Entries often drop to 0, or it shows Network error (ERR_CONNECTION_CLOSED). Server-Side Lockdown: I am unable to access the Edge sync reset page (https://edge.microsoft.com/syncreset) from ANY browser or ANY network environment (including mobile data and different VPN nodes). It consistently returns: "Our services aren't available. We're working to restore all services as soon as possible. Please check back soon." Question: Since the syncreset page is unavailable globally for my account, it seems to be a back-end identity/gateway issue rather than a local client error. Has anyone else encountered this "Services aren't available" error on the reset page recently? Is there a way to force a server-side sync container refresh when the official reset tool is down?177Views0likes3CommentsRequest ability to change or customize bookmark icons in edge.
I submitted this to the whole Microsoft feedback thing, and this is genuinely my only complaint about Edge. I have many bookmarks that I use regularly, and some do not have a default icon to match the site so I have to have the plain icon and the name so I can tell what it is. Having every bookmark with a plain icon and title takes a lot of space and sometimes forces some of them to be hidden which defeats the purpose of having quick bookmarks to access your most used sites. I feel like I rarely see any change with every edge update and I actually like using edge. I think it would be extremely helpful and a greater update if we were able to customize the icons for our bookmarks by either selecting our own images for icons or simply picking different colors for them. I am extremely surprised with how far edge has come that they haven't implemented this simple, but extremely helpful feature.2.5KViews3likes3CommentsSupport for custom favicons
One feature that I really would like to see in Edge is the possibility to have custom favicons for any favorite. When editing a favorite, the dialog should not just offer to change its name and URL, but also the icon. Is that something we might see in future versions, or is there any specific reason why this is and will not be supported?Solved3.1KViews0likes7CommentsMicrosoft Edge - PDF Edits Won't Save
I've been editing these PDFs using Microsoft Edge for a while now, but recently came across an issue. Whenever I go to save the edited PDF to a new folder, the preview and the saved PDF show the original information. I've tried saving the document using the save button, the save as button, and the print button (save as PDF). No matter which option I use, it will not save the new information. I've tried refreshing the page (which gets rid of all my edits), closing and reopening the PDF, closing and reopening Microsoft Edge, restarting my computer, and shutting down my computer completely. I've also tried checking for updates, clearing my browsing history, and resetting the settings. Any advice is greatly appreciated as this is severely slowing down my progress.5KViews0likes6Comments
