I have a Surface Pro 7 (i7, 16GB, 512GB). I am trying to attach a usb-c 6-in-1 adapter to the usb-c port. Most of these usb-c adapters have a power feed port to supply enough power for several devices. The problem is that every time I supply power to the adapter the Surface Pro 7 becomes erratic and does not register any of the devices. It may have something to do with the fact that the power port wants to feed the power back to Surface Pro and the usb-c port is not the charging port on the Surface Pro. Does anyone know of a solution? Is anyone using a usb-c adapter on the Surface Pro 7? My adapter has these ports: 3 X usb-a 3.1, HDMI, SD card reader, Gigabit Ethernet, and usb-c (for power).4.8KViews0likes1CommentUSB-C Stopped working on my Surface Pro 7
I have an external monitor connected to my Surface pro 7 . It's been connected since I purchased the surface and never had any issues until 2 days ago. The monitor stopped duplicating/extending my screen. I unplugged and re-connected and received an error message stating that it couldnt identify the monitor. I clicked on the error message and it opened the USB settings. After it opened the USB settings, I havent received the message since and there is no power whatsoever going to the USB-C. I tried charging my phone with the USB-C to USB-C and nothing. Has anyone else experienced this? No errors in Device Manager and I tried uninstalling the battery driver like the support page says, but still nothing.3.3KViews0likes5CommentsWindows time change doesn't update time in UEFI/BIOS
We have multiple Surface Pro 7 tablets that run Windows 10 Pro. The tablets operate entirely disconnected from the internet and are manually synced occasionally. Recently we updated some of our tablets to Surface Pro 7+ tablets and duplicated the Windows image from the old tablets to the newer ones (updating the relevant drivers). However, when we perform the sync procedure on the new tablets, the time resets back to the BIOS time after every restart. After some investigation, we found out that the Surface Pro 7 tablet modifies the BIOS time when the time in Windows is changed. However, the Surface Pro 7+ tablet fails to change BIOS time. This issue did not reproduce on a brand new Surface Pro 7+ (without our image), so we suspect it has to do with the image we installed (configured from a Surface Pro 7 tablet). We had performed a similar update before, updating from Surface Pro 6 to Surface Pro 7 but did not encounter any issues. After installing https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=102633(which also updates the BIOS), the issue was resolved. However, we want to find a simpler solution that doesn't require updating and installing irrelevant drivers. Another possible cause we tried to investigate is that the newer tablet runs a different BIOS version that is not configured in the Windows Registry/elsewhere. Still, we were not able to find documentation regarding that. Is there any solution to this issue that doesn't require updating all drivers/installing a new Windows image?2.4KViews0likes0CommentsHow does SurfaceGO set Wake-on-LAN (WOL)?
My test environment: (1) SurfaceGO has SurfaceWOL.msi installed, plugged in power cord and network cable, and is in sleep mode; (2) Network adapter--Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4A Wireless Network Adapter--D0 PacketCoalescing is set to Enable; (3) Battery and sleep-network connection-select never; (4) Disable Quick Start. Sending a magic packet to SurfaceGO does not make SurfaceGO wake up from sleep mode. May I ask what is the reason? I have some issues with heated surfaces of my Surface Pro 7. This is an I5 with 8G and 256 GB RAM. At times if powering a monitor and with laying flat it starts to work real slow. Want to know if a fix is on the works as I don't know if the W11 is making it run hot.1.1KViews0likes0CommentsSurface Pro 7
Hi all. My 3 year old Surface pro 7 continues to run HOT when playing MS games- so hot that I can't touch the power connection. I thought there was a fix for this problem, but I can't find it. Now the power connector has to be held in place to charge, probably because it burnt up. It doesn't shut down and I have never seen this 'thermometer' that is supposed to appear. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks.849Views0likes1CommentRecent Update issues (as of Fri 15 Jan 2021)
Hi Surface Pro 7 The strangest thing happened. I got an update and everything went as normal - until at a point where I had 30% complete and (as is often the case) it tried to do a Restart - changed to a blue screen with 'Restarting' in the middle. That was it, no further changes. After about 3 hours with that same screen I tried to shut down (single top left button) and it did go yo black screen for a moment, it then just went to the same blue screen. OK tried a 2 button reset - exactly the same, immediately back to the same blue screen. It was geting late, now about 5 hours after the initial updating process started, so I had to get some sleep. Not having any control over the on/off state of the Surface Pro, I just closed the cover and left it. The next day (today), I opened the cover and had a black screen - thinking it was the same state as before and that it would go to the blue screen ahain, I pressed the start button - wow! - it started as normal. Questions: what on earth happened there? Amyone else had such a strange thing happen?719Views0likes0CommentsSurface Pro 7: LAN connection getting lost if connected to Dock 1
Hello, I have connected the Surface Pro 7 to LAN via Dock 1. If I switch to energy mode (suspend) and return, the LAN connection is lost . In order to re-establish the LAN connection, I detach and attach the cord between Surface and dock. Is there anything to be updated / checked? Is this issue already known by anyone? Is maybe dock 2 required to work properly? Thanks for any help in this matter.516Views0likes0CommentsConnecting a SURFACE PRO 7 as a monitor to a LAPTOP STUDIO 2.
Hi, I'm looking for help in connecting a SURFACE PRO 7 as a monitor to a LAPTOP STUDIO 2. The matter seems straightforward and intuitive, and it is when I try to connect them the other way. The PRO 7 detects the STUDIO 2 without any issues, and in the blink of an eye, the STUDIO 2 becomes a monitor. However, the STUDIO 2 doesn't detect the PRO 7. I've already updated everything I could. I've restarted the computers, but unfortunately, nothing works. Any ideas on how to solve this problem?365Views0likes1Commenthelp to zoom in on a specific area
Hello, I hope someone can help. I'm working on a project where I've purchased some Surface Pro 7 devices to allow people to select presets that control some lighting. Does anyone know of an app or another solution where I can zoom in on a specific area of the screen and make that area fill the entire screen? It would also be great if I could lock the Surface so that only a specific area could be tapped. I hope this makes sense, and I hope someone can help. I've been googling for several days 😊312Views0likes0Comments
