Hi Can two MS Project files be opened on two different screens at the same time? This option is should be there as it is for other usual MS software like Word, Excel etc. Hope this can be fixed as will ease out while working from two parallel files simultaneously. Appreciate if this can be looked at, please asap. Looking forwardSolved155KViews1like41CommentsHow to have two tasks start on same day
Hi I am trying to have two tasks start on same day both linked to each other. So this is what I tried: Two task example Task A 06/23/2022 06/23/2022 1 day Task B 06/23/2022 06/23/2022 1 day Task C 06/23/2022 06/23/2022 1 day What I initially did is I copied the end date of the first and did a paste special as object to the start of Task B and that worked. I did even have the predecessors too. But when I tried to add more that technique didn't worked out. The only time I can have all tasks start on the same day / date is when I do not link them or remove predecessors Any advise will be much appreciated. I'm a little confused about the deployment of the bits for subscription licenses. Is 'ProjectProRetail' the correct productID to use, if I need to deploy 'Project Online Desktop Client' ? We have an O365 E3 plan, which give us O365 ProPlus bits, that I deploy. Some users will need to add Visio to their machines, other users will need to add Project to their machines. The Office Deployment Tool allows me to download the bits for deployment to machines. The ODT, when invoked in 'configure' mode (sort of the equivalent of 'installation') requires that I specify in the configuration.xml which bits to deploy. The defined list of 'product IDs' permitted by the ODT doesn't list 'Project Online Desktop Client' but it does list 'ProjectProRetail' : - O365ProPlusRetail - O365BusinessRetail - VisioProRetail - ProjectProRetail - SPDRetail (SharePoint Designer 2013) https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2842297 Here's some of the articles I've been reading (none of which make it any clearer to me :( https://support.office.com/en-us/article/install-project-7059249b-d9fe-4d61-ab96-5c5bf435f281?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US&fromAR=1 https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Get-started-with-Project-Online-e3e5f64f-ada5-4f9d-a578-130b2d4e5f11?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US&fromAR=1 https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/mt599788(v=office.16).aspx Help?Solved20KViews0likes3CommentsProject Not Launching
Hi All, Not sure if anyone else has come across this yet seems to be a new "Feature" few users have raised a issue where they can't open project files by clicking on the file and opening it, you get the project splash screen and it just stays like that indefinitely The users are open the files from a OneDrive sync and its not a isolated issue 3 people have reported the exact same issue, the workaround I have found at the moment is launching Project by its self and opening the documents from within Project The Project version effected is: 16.0.17126.20132 Hoping this is just a broken MS update that can be patched out sooner rather than later.19KViews1like14CommentsPrint with Microsoft Project to A0 format
Hello, A customer from me has the issue, that he cannot print with microsoft Project on the A0 format. When he wants to have it printed, he has to save it first with 'Print to PDF', and after that, send it with another tool to the printer, to print it at A0 format. He is using Microsoft Professional Project 2016 1. Is it true that Microsoft Project Cannot print on A0 with a real printer? 2. Is there a Microsoft Project version, where this is changed/solved? Any ideas on the plan for Project Online and Azure DevOps integration? The process for TFS to Project Server on prem is no longer supported. Predefined field maps only available connectivity, so not really a solution we can use. How are others replacing the TFSFieldMapping? Thanks!15KViews2likes3CommentsExport a project as .mpp from Project Online
Hi, I have a project created in Project Online and need to share the .mpp project file with a client. However, although there are options to export as Excel or PDF, I am unable to export to .mpp. Is exporting from Project Online to .mpp even possible? I have been referring to this article - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/projectonline/connect-to-project-online-with-the-project-online-desktop-client which looked promising. I am on a Mac but I have a colleague with a Windows laptop and he has Project Professional desktop client. Has anyone tried this approach? But I am unable to figure out the Project Server URL referred to in the article. I have tried the URL of my Project Online project but this doesn't work. Any help here will be really appreciated.12KViews0likes6CommentsHow to integrate Ms Project Online Desktop Client with Ms Teams Project App and Todo Planner?
Hello All, I am looking for a way to integrate my desktop Project client with Teams. Couple of questions that arised: I am working in desktop client. Can I save and have an immediate integration of the project in Teams? Example: A Team of my choice can access my file in the form that Teams allows, with buckets and timelines and charts and everything? I am working in Teams tasks kanban board. Can I save and export the board into desktop client? Let's say a project had been run in a kanban board so far and I have assigned People, tasks, due dates, labels etc. I don't want to manually copy every single information but would like to just somehow export the whole data into desktop format. Is that possible? Technical info, app version: Microsoft® Project® Online Desktop Client MSO (Version 2303 Build 16.0.16227.20202) 64-bitSolved10KViews1like5CommentsMs Project Shift Work
Hello, I am currently changing how I manage our production schedule within MS Project..... Background - I work at an industrial repair facility, durations are roughly estimated, i use "Work" as an estimate, and our resources work two shifts. Each department has a different amount of employees per shift I.E machine shop has 5 People on Days 1 on Nights. Each schedule has different known requirements for working days and times, and some Tasks may hold their own Task Calendar. I use a resource pool, and a master schedule file My standard scheduling options are Fixed Units / 7am- 11pm 24hrs per day 168 hrs per week 30 days per month Tasks are NOT effort driven I have a few project calendars (Base Calendar 5 Days 8 Hours = M-F 8 hours first shift 8 hours second Shift) All Resource calendars are listed as a variation of the 24hr schedule, variation includes Lunches and turn over before and after each shift for a total 22 hrs per day of available work. Issue 1 I add Task 1, with each task having Work 10 hrs, I assign 1 Day shift and 1 Night shift, There seems to be unwanted level loading between the two resources For example Day shift resource 1 starts at 7am on a 10 hour task which should leave 2.75 hrs left on the task, so the night shift resource will have 2.75 hrs to preform on their shift. Now, sometimes it is doing the calculation correctly. But, most of the time it will split the 10 hrs of work evenly between the 2 resources. So instead of finishing at 6:30 PM it would instead finish at 9am (Lunch break included) My work around so far is going into task usage to manually adjust working times. I have hundreds of tasks to schedule so i would really like to avoid the manual adjustments. Any help with a better way to show shift work would be greatly appreciated!7.5KViews0likes8CommentsActual number of days working on the task VS period of time to complete the task
Hi All, You may find my question stupid, but after a long hassle, I decided to ask for help. Given: Say I input a new summary task for the project and say this summary task has 5 tasks. The time period for each task is 1 week (5 days) and the time gap between tasks is 3 weeks (15 days). I set the project time to be calculated in days. After all that, my summary task shows that the total amount of working time is 100 days (working + gap), instead of 25 days of actual work. Pop-quiz: how can I set the summary task to show the actual amount of working time instead of the total time including gaps? Sorry if it all sounds confusing, I tried to be as specific as I could. Thanks to everyone in advance! P.S. I use MP 3655.9KViews0likes6Comments
