I am utilizing the files on demand feature in the newer OneDrive application. This feature is really nice for syncing sharepoint libraries and not actually downloading all the files locally. My question is, is there a way to setup an auto sync a certain set of libraries to a certain set of users instead of having to go manually into each library and syncing? Why can I not see the 'People' section in Photos on the OneDrive app that is depicted in the following Microsoft support topic titled 'Group photos by people'. The purpose is to enable users to find photos that have particular people in them. Great feature, just can't find it in my OneDrive apps on either my Business or Personal Microsoft 365 services? https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/topic/group-photos-by-people-21065f48-c746-48ad-a98a-cbe4631631bc Is this a new feature that hasn't been rolled out yet, and if so when is it coming?22KViews3likes10CommentsOneDrive needs your attention...
We have one person who's OneDrive sync takes hours (it says it is syncing 100Ks of files, but he doesn't have that many) and then ends with a warning: OneDrive needs your attention. Remove files from all locations? You recently deleted 13908 files or moved those files out of your OneDrive folder on this device. Do you want to remove them from OneDrive and all shared libraries?" He hasn't move anywhere near that many files from the original folder, nor has he deleted them. Searching the web shows others with the same issue, but I haven't found any fix. Is there one? Thanks.19KViews1like5CommentsSort by Name not proper for numbered files.
Just trying to understand the logic of OneDrive's "Sort by Name" when it comes to numbers. Take a look at the below. "9-26" shouldn't be coming before "9-3". The number 26 should be perceived as after 3. I cannot honestly say I've seen that issue with other storage services.Solved19KViews0likes9CommentsReplacing File Share with OneDrive
Hi, We are currently using an on-prem. File Share to host all of our company data. We have Office 365 and would like to utilize the OneDrive feature and storage to backup and potentially become the main source of data for everyone in the company. With the File Share, it is a single source everyone can access when the drive is mapped to their PC and we are able to set up folders and delegates access to users depending on what the user would need. When trying to understand how I would replicate this or do something similar I looked at the documentation here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/onedrive/one-drive-quickstart-small-business My Questions: To have the data in a central location in OneDrive do I just create a new account that should act as the "owner" of the data, and then depending on the folder grant permission or share the link to the appropriate end-users? If the above is true, once I've created the account that will host the data, it sounds like I could use the SharePoint Data Migration tool or is it as simple as installing the OneDrive software to the file-sharing server and backing it up that way (it's roughly 2.5 TB of data)? Once all the data is moved to OneDrive is there a way to turn off the sync feature. So if an item is deleted on the file-share or OneDrive it is then not deleted on the other?Solved16KViews0likes3CommentsOneDrive Sync tool behavior for more than 300K files
Hi team, OneDrive client sync has limitation of 300,000 files across different libraries. And we are looking at migrating file share content to OneDrive personal site My understanding My understanding is, for large number of files (within the limits of 300K) OneDrive sync tool should take more time to sync first time, but after that not all files will sync at a time (files on demand is on), so no future issues should appear. But not having exact user experience information. Problem statement/Query We have significant number for users with more than 300K files and want to know how will OneDrive client sync tool behave on the first time login by user post migrating these 300K files? Will it take longer time to sync or will it not sync at all ? how do you save two differnt (or more your PCs) to the same one drive so they don't blur together? As my computers age, I tend to change them and thought I could save my old PCs to the cloud under one drive. Now I am confused. I think I might have done this before but I'm not sure. Since my new PC purchases, it drops all of my then current PC down into the device. My first new one was just a notebook and I wanted it to remain emptish/clean of anything in order to think. Also a notebook brain is not too big. I had it sinking, but I'm not sure how now. My new desktop also automatically just dumped the old PC (windows 10) to this new PC (windows 11) which I like sort of blank so I can relearn the computer and to start new. I only use one Microsoft and think they made it a law that we, the consumer, only has one Microsoft account, free or paid per person. Please help!15KViews1like3CommentsDisable Creation of Shared Libraries
Hello, I am in the process of rolling out SharePoint Online and OneDrive for our organization. I do not want end users to have the ability to create new SharePoint sites. I have disabled this within the SharePoint admin console, however users can still create Shared Libraries from their OneDrive accounts which in turn creates a new SharePoint site. My question is, as an Administrator is there the ability to disable this button from appearing on peoples OneDrive accounts? Thanks, Tony13KViews0likes8Comments
