92 TopicsAzure AD Group Based Licensing in Education. Will this apply to Staff, Students and Alumni?
Please note that I have previously posted this as a ‘reply’ to the announcement of the feature https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Azure-Active-Directory/Azure-AD-group-based-license-management-for-Office-365-and-more/m-p/57595#M304 - I apologize if this is some sort of cross posting breach. Greetings all, My question is specifically in regards to end user licensing in the Education Sector, which is needed to use Azure AD Group Based Licensing. Going by Source 1, all users who inherit a license via the group based licensing model will need an Azure AD Basic license (not Azure AD Free). Going by Source 2, this will change once the functionality reaches GA. Once this happens, "it will be included in Office 365 Enterprise E3 and similar products." As Education licensing differs from the standard Enterprise E3, will this functionality be included at no cost for Student and Alumni licensing? As you can imagine, a large University will have hundreds of thousands of Alumni and tens of thousands of Students. Having Education E3 include the Azure AD Basic licensing / eligibility for Azure AD Group based licensing for $0 will help for Staff, but if Azure AD Basic licensing is not included for Alumni and Students, the Education sector will not be able to afford to use this awesome functionality. Can someone please provide clarity, and preferably a link to a valid Microsoft site, on how Azure AD Group Based Licensing and Azure AD Basic will apply to Staff, Students and Alumni. Source 1 - Link - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/active-directory-licensing-whatis-azure-portal Features – During public preview, a paid or trial subscription for Azure AD basic or premium editions is required in the tenant to use group-based license management. Also, every user who inherits any licenses from groups must have the paid Azure AD edition license assigned to them. Source 2 - Link - https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/enterprisemobility/2017/02/22/announcing-the-public-preview-of-azure-ad-group-based-license-management-for-office-365-and-more/%C2%A0 It contains the following statement: "While group-based license management is in public preview you will need an active subscription for Azure AD Basic (or above) in your tenant to assign licenses to groups. If you don’t have one, just sign up for an Enterprise Mobility + Security trial. Later, when this functionality becomes generally available it will be included in Office 365 Enterprise E3 and similar products."3.3KViews4likes3CommentsWorking with multiple work accounts on a windows 10 device
Hello everyone I think it's time for me to vent my frustration about working with multiple work/education accounts on a windows 10 device... First of all, I have 3 Microsoft Accounts (1x Personal; 1x Work; 1x Education) and oh boy, it's very very frustrating to get all these 3 Accounts work together on the same windows 10 device with one Userprofile. Working with my Personal and Work (or Education) account on the same device works fine, no problems, but as soon as I add additionally either my Work or Education Account in the Windows 10 settings under "Account > Email & accounts" things starting to get complicated. Sync issues across every app that uses one of these work/education accounts (classic Office Apps, ToDo, Edge, OneNote) Upload blocks in the office apps (Word, Excel...) & Credential Errors 4x/day a notification toast that my work accounts need to fix... blabla -> I click okay, now fix it -> Accounts fixed -> later in the day, same error occurs... I just want to use all my accounts on the same device with the same Userprofile, I really love the Microsoft 365 Platform but these things driving me crazy. I had a time, in there I worked completely online, but yeah, we all know how cool it is to work with the online versions of Office Apps. I also tried multi-bootable windows installations or multiple Userprofiles and it worked, but I often need to access files/services that are stored in the OneDrive from my Education Account or vise versa, so it's really impracticable. Then I tried to link my accounts just in these apps where I need it, but Windows 10 really have fun on it to write in my accounts under the named windows 10 settings location. Has anyone a best practice, tips/tricks etc. everything helps... Thanks.25KViews3likes12CommentsWanted to join Beta Channel, ended up forced to upgrade to Windows 11 Insider Preview, how to stop?
So, it all started with me wanting to join the Beta Channel for Excel since I wanted to have the new features available there. So, in Excel I couldn't find the Insider Button at Account menu even though I am a MS365 Subscriber. So, I thought I had to go to Windows Settings -> Update & Security -> Windows Insider Programme to use it. After I registered there, instead of showing me in Excel Beta Channel it now is downloading and installing Windows 11 Insider Preview, what I don't want and theoretically shouldn't be able to get since my processor is too bad, it tells me that in the same window at the right side. (I am currently on Windows 10 Home 22H2-19045.3324) I have already tried to leave the program and i am getting different response to that, the Windows Insider Programme in the settings tells me that I am still set to get Insider Preview builds and the Windows Update menu also. But when I click on Leave the Insider Programme in Windows Insider Programme it directs me to a page which says This email address is not registered as a Windows Insider.... And yes it's the same E-Mail address that's linked to the program and which was connected to the page that told me the E-Mail address is not registered. Also, Sidenote: Many buttons are not responding at all, clicking on fix the problem (see image) doesn't work, before that, changing Channels, adding E-Mail all did not work first time. And In Office clicking on Join MS365 Insider doesn't do anything either. This whole program seems verry unstable. My questions are: 1. How to undo all that so I don't must upgrade to Windows 11 Insider Preview 2. How to join Office Beta Channel the correct way?Solved4.1KViews2likes8CommentsExcel and Micro:Bit - Hacking for fun and creativity!
