office 365
12 TopicsWhat's the difference between School Data Sync (Plan 1) and School Data Sync (Plan 2)?
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/schooldatasync/create-users-for-k12-and-hed#prerequisites-for-sds mentions among the "perquisites to enable SDS for user creation" are School Data Sync (Plan 1) or School Data Sync (Plan 2). Microsoft Partners have access to documents that explain Office 365 Education Plan A1 includes School Data Sync (Plan 1) while both Microsoft 365 and Office 365 Education Plan A3 and A5 include School Data Sync (Plan 2). However, I can't find any details about the differences between the SDS plans on: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/academic/compare-office-365-education-plans https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/office365/servicedescriptions/office-365-platform-service-description/office-365-education, which doesn't even mention SDS https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/office365/servicedescriptions/office-365-platform-service-description/microsoft-365-education https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/education/buy-license/microsoft365/ [EDIT] https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/licensing/product-licensing/microsoft-365-enterprise?activetab=m365-enterprise:primaryr7 mentions "School Data Sync Plan 2 (plan details can be found https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/schooldatasync/)" - but there are no details about the plan there Does anyone know what the distinction is between School Data Sync (Plan 1) and School Data Sync (Plan 2)?Solved4.6KViews0likes4CommentsUrgent - SDS didn't create group or teams
Hello, everyone. I have a problem when synchronizing SDS to create Teams teams. I created the CSV files and synced them. He didn't give any mistakes and everything turned up right, but he didn't create either the MS365 groups or the Teams teams. What could it be? Thanks all for help!678Views0likes0CommentsSchool Data Sync - how to use Powerplattform together with SDS data that is imported?
How can i access the data that SDS is using from the powerplattform. If we import students, parents, schools, groups and classes etc. How can we fetch the imported data and the results of SDS work? I would really like to find a good option to access this data. This would open up so many possibilities to use the powerplattform and create tool based on the correct data imported via SDS.656Views0likes0CommentsTeams not appearing when SDS imported teachers/students logon
Hi, I have used sample CSV from https://github.com/OfficeDev/O365-EDU-Tools/tree/master/CSV%20Samples/UK%20Format/25%20Users and imported via SDS. After importing the CSV, I can see O365 accounts, O365 groups & Teams has been created. Teams also has students as the members and teacher as the owner. However when teacher logon to the Teams, all they can see is "Create a team" or "Join a team with code". And same for the students as well. Have I missed anything, any help would be much appreciated, thank you. Screenshot for SDS profile645Views0likes0CommentsHiddenGroupMembershipEnabled - SDS setting?
I have a customer who syncs groups to 365 via a CSV import to SDS. Student groups have the HiddenGroupMembershipEnabled attribute set as true. I'm aware that this attribute cannot be edited and to disable this feature, the group would need to be re-created. Is anyone aware of any setting or configuration in SDS that is automatically setting this attribute on student groups? If there is such a setting, can this be changed? Many thanks for your help. Hi! The long introduction is necessary. Sorry! This past spring my school adopted O365 and added its own domain. I created students' and teachers' accounts manually. We log in with our work e-mail addresses (in the format of "john.doe@domain") and use Outlook. With the school year I wanted to use SDS synchronization via API from my school's register. However, according to the tutorial, the schools register sets up its own format of addresses, like "jdoe@domain". Now I need someone to confirm I'm right about the following: synchro via API would create new teachers accounts and force them to abandon their previous ones completely shattering e-mail communication. This is, of course, unacceptable. Now I'm thinking about SDS synchro via CSVs (exported from the register). I'd love to know: 1. If I modify "student.csv" and "teacher.csv" changing Usernames from "jdoe@domain" to "john.doe@domain", will it synchronize well with the existing addresses/accounts? 2. Which option to choose: Existing Users or New Users? I don't understand it: I have existing users who I want to map to new teams but also I'll have some new teachers and students whose accounts need to be created and mapped as above. I'd be immensely grateful for any help. Z.S1.2KViews0likes0CommentsUpdates to https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/schooldatasync/ section
There doesn't seem to be an option to comment on the docs section https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/schooldatasync/ as there is for example on https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/office365/servicedescriptions/office-365-service-descriptions-technet-library. School Data Sync (SDS), https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/schooldatasync/ (published date 09/30/2017) says: "School Data Sync (SDS) is a free service in Office 365 for Education that reads the school and roster data from a school's Student Information System (SIS). It creates Office 365 Groups for Exchange Online and SharePoint Online, class teams for Microsoft Teams and OneNote Class notebooks, school groups for Intune for Education, and rostering and SSO integration for many other third party applications." And https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/schooldatasync/frequently-asked-questions (published data 04/15/2018) still say: School Data Sync is a free service in Office 365 Education that reads the rosters from your SIS, and creates classes for Microsoft Teams, Intune for Education, and third party applications. ... SDS allows you to automatically create Class Teams within Teams for Education (There are likely more references to SDS creating Teams that could be found) - perhaps someone could update these references in light of https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/schooldatasync/whats-new-with-school-data-sync (published date 03/26/2020) and https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/schooldatasync/improved-class-and-roster-sync-for-teams (published date 04/14/2020) to explain the difference between the ways Teams are provisioned for sync profiles created before and after 3/26/2020?899Views0likes0CommentsURGENT!! Need help with SDS automation.
Hello, I am really struggling with using SDS Manually as it keeps messing up. Currently, I have setup a profile to create new users and assign them Office 365 A1 Faculty or Student licenses. However, every time I add new users, all the existing group members gets reset and I have to manually add them again. This is really troublesome since I am no longer able to use Microsoft Teams app to take classes online since no-one is in the group that I intended them to be in. It's really bringing down the quality of education my students get. Can someone please assist me with this. It's urgent. I have tried calling Microsoft Support and it has been more than 3 days with no response from SDS team. Any help would be appreciated. Hi, A few weeks ago i implemented SDS synchronization throw OneRoster API. At that time everything was working fine. The students, teachers, sections and enrollments were all created and appeared on O365 and also on teams. Now, when I try to use this in a new school, only the students and the teachers are created. I don't get any error on the profile, but the sections are not there. I've tried with other schools and I had the same problem in all of them. Any idea why? I have already checked the section names to see if they have strange characters and I also confirmed that I am not sending duplicate records either. Any help would be appreciated.
