Hi When using OneDrive on MacOS I can't search my OneDrive files in Spotlight, making file access more cumbersome. I tried to edit the Spotlight search settings, but I don't see my OneDrive folder there. I checekd the SpotLight settings under preferences - and the "Folders" and "Documents" options are both set. Is this a OneDrive Limitation ? Environment: MacBook Pro (Intel), Ventura 13.6.6605Views1like2CommentsFor OneDrive, Save A Copy does not default to the folder/path of the original, with MS365 apps)
When I open a document in Word and Save A Copy, the save location is not the folder the document was opened from. Word is choosing a different folder that I have previously saved other documents in. Normal behavior: Open Acme_v1 from Acme folder > Save A Copy > save dialog opens to Acme folder What's happening: Open Acme_v1 from Acme folder. > Save A Copy > save dialog opens to a random folder that was saved to previously This behavior is unique to when accessing and saving files through Onedrive for Mac. It works fine if retrieving/saving files locally, or if doing the same operation on OneDrive for Windows. This behavior is a significant issue for us and causing people to avoid saving files to onedrive altogether and to save files locally or use alternative cloud services rather than put up with this nonsense. I am unable to find any configuration setting to change this behavior. Ideas?245Views1like0CommentsmacOS synced folders don't show in open/save dialogue of apps
We are trying to use SharePoint (via Teams) as a central file store for our school. We are using MacBook Air for the teachers with MS 365 as the main software environment. I am a teacher and the person to decide on the process. I tried out both versions of making the filespace accessible to the teachers: When I sync a folder from a SharePoint site, I see it in Finder under locations in the left pane. When I create a shortcut to a SharePoint folder, I also can see it in my OneDrive. So far so good. PROBLEM: As soon as I am in e.g. Word and want to load or save a document, neither a synced location shows in that dialogue nor the shortcuts in OneDrive show! This only changes, when I click "On My Mac" and a file dialogue like in finder opens. I know our teachers and that it will be hard to communicate this to everybody. QUESTION: Is there a way to make either synced Folders or shortcuts more easily accessible (e.g. directly show in the proprietary dialogue of Word)? Thanks, Knut336Views0likes0CommentsOneDrive on Mac software update
Hi I have what seems like quite a complex problem with OneDrive for Mac here. My MacBooks is currently on iOS 10.14. OneDrive for Mac (I think) is no longer supported on this version of the operating system. I do not know this for certain, but it would explain why the OneDrive application is completely unresponsive. The obvious solve to this would be to do a software update. However, I cannot. I have 128GB of storage on my MacBook, the overwhelming majority of which is taken up by files which I have backed up to OneDrive. Unfortunately, I cannot access these files, either to delete or to move to a hardrive. As a result I do not have enough storage to install my software update. I thought I had troubleshooted this problem by adding the inaccessible (OneDrive-backed-up) files to an enclosing folder, moving that folder to trash, and then permenantly deleting. But, when I view the storage manager, the available space on my disk has not decreased - it has just shifted from the "Documents" allocation to the "System" allocation (see attached pic). I think, therefore, that while the files I tried to delete are still on my disk somewhere, albeit now invisible. Would appreciate some assistance in resolving this issue. Many thanks Freddie1KViews0likes1CommentOneDrive on Mac to backup Desktop, Documents, Pictures
HI all! I'm not seeing any concrete answers (via Google results) to the simple question of whether or not on a Mac, you can configure OneDrive for Business to sync additional folders besides the contents of the OneDrive folder itself. All the info floating around out there is outdated or points to a 3rd party tool, or unproven scripting, etc. I'm ok if the answer is No, but it would be great to get a straight answer on this. FWIW, there just doesn't seem to be any option in OneDrive itself for any of that. I'm about to tell my user they just need to stop saving files to Desktop, Documents, etc. and just put everything in OneDrive. Alternatively, can we solve this need through Google Drive, iCloud Drive, DropBox? Thanks 🙂3.1KViews0likes2CommentsSS2: improvements in onedrive web
Suggestion (SS): 2 Classification: WEB PRIORITY IN MY OPINION: 6-7 in a scala 1 (low) - 10 (high) You can vote this post here https://link.ws/voteonedriveweb (don't know if onedrive devs are on this forum or not), so i submit the post to the other website too, where we need 500 votes. i copy chat with gsuite, because the same problem are available with onedrive: Marco Borner: 2) if I select in the path /a/b/c/d/e and then I tell you to search, you should search inside the path /e and not again in the whole drive. is so annoying that I always need to right click to tell gdrive search inside current path Marco Borner: 3) there is no way to automatically tell gdrive, for every subfolder inside folder a, always search only videos. avoid to search photo, documents etc. Marco Borner: 4) there is no way to save such search. I wish I can have a panel, where I can organize all my search, so I can access such search much more faster Marco Borner: 6) no way to play videos randomly Marco Borner: i have under / at least 50 folder, I wish I could just pin some folders. in such way I don't need always to scroll 100km or reorder it to z-a order to find for example the folder rclone. without need to use favourite Marco Borner: ah last point: I wish I could just write <v aaa and you search aaa as video without need to type your full search command so you create a panel where I can convert some search command to a new command < something. in such way I could search inside path hh/hhh/kjdhd/ciao by writing <v <ciao xxx New suggestions: faster way to copy files, with just 1 click near the file, and not 1000x ability to create custom share links ability to delete such link sharing after x days ability to backup onedrive to onedrive (example privato to business in rclone style) ability to pin some files over the whole list of folders in github style ability to add personalized icon to folders ability to copy the path of a folder like /aa/bb/ccc ability to add labels to files ability to add flag/favourite and to change background color for such files show us description inside the list too temporary drop zone to move files faster without need to use move to... add an alternative for no photo/video if i select 3 files i should be able to choose merge in folder .... next time about onedrive app for mac... Hi. I just want to synchronize a Sharepoint Library with a Sharepoint 2019 server. I've setup the App comming from Microsoft (not from Apple AppStore). The application is able to see my personal site in Sharepoint, and synchronize. No problem. When I use with Safari the Sharepoint Library, when I click on the Synchronize button, it shoud add a new URL in the OneDrive app (it's how it works in Windows). In that case, nothing happens. I've tried another web browser (Chrome), without success). I've verified the behaviour with Macos 10.13 and 10.15. Regards1.3KViews0likes0CommentsOneDrive sync restriction not working properly - some legit machines blocked.
We've recently deployed OneDrive for Business for a customer and we set up the client sync restriction to the domain GUID. There seem to be some HUGE issues with the feature to make me think it's buggy. Issue #1 - Random computers on the "allowed" domain are not recognised as such and clients are denied sync. The error thrown is "Sorry, OneDrive can't add your folder right now." Furthermore, Fiddler shows an HTTP response "X-ClientErrorCode: MachineIsNotAllowedToSync". Issue #2 - Users randomly get a problem in Office ProPlus when opening OneDrive files. For example, in Excel, going to the "Open" menu item and select OneDrive as the storage location, they are prompted for credentials to sign-in. When they enter correct credentials, the error thrown is "That Microsoft account doesn't exist. Enter a different account or get a new one." For both of these issues, disabling the OneDrive for Business client restriction fixes the problem immediately. I've also tested affected client computers both on the local network (which has a proxy) and direct Internet access. Anyone seen this behaviour? I'd love to see some documentation on how the domain GUID is confirmed at the client-side to point me in the right direction.3KViews0likes1Comment
