Hey everyone! Happy Monday! I'm trying to install a handful of on-prem Skype for Business 2019 into a lab environment and I'm falling at the second hurdle when running 'Setup or Remove SfB Server Components'. I'm getting the error: 'Error 0x8007054b (The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted) setting launch conditions on DCOM layer during action SetDCOMSecurityEx. CustomAction CA_SetDCOMSecurity returned actual error code 1603 (note this may not be 100% accurate if translation happened inside sandbox) Error returned while installing Server.msi(Feature_Server, Feature_HealthAgent), code 1603. Error Message: A fatal error occurred during installation.' All of the servers are part of the same domain. I can log into the skype servers with a domain account, DNs all seems to be working, nltest commands seem to come back normal. Things that I've tried: - Adjusting the COM Security settings for launch and Activation Permission to include RTCUniversalServerAdmins and my admin account to allow local/remote launch, and local/remote activation - Setting a group policy to allow the group EVERYONE to make remote SAM calls (this seemed to have a broken a lot so reverted... I saw it on an MS forum that fixed it for someone) - Run the installer as admin, run it w/out admin - Put the server into a 'staging' area in AD with no policies applied. Fortunately this same error is happening on all servers, which implies that there is a policy, registry key or some permission that's getting in the way. Does anyone have any ideas of some other things that I can try? Thank you! Edit: I know Skype 2019 is old, I know I should be using something else. I'll be moving to Skype SE in Oct.12Views0likes0CommentsHow to reinstall Windows 10 from usb without losing files?
I need to reinstall Windows 10 on my computer and I've heard that it can be done using a USB drive. However, I'm not entirely sure about the steps involved in creating a bootable USB and then using it to reinstall the OS. Could someone please provide a detailed, step-by-step guide on how to reinstall Windows 10 from USB? Here are a few specific questions I have: What tools do I need to create a bootable USB drive? How do I prepare the USB drive for the installation? What are the steps to follow during the installation process? Possible to keep the files and apps during reinstallation? Thanks for your help!8.4KViews0likes13CommentsHow to Remove Skype for Business
Skype for Business currently installs as a packaged product with Microsoft 365 Business Professional desktop apps. The installation does not install Teams as a part of the Microsoft 365 Business Professional desktop apps. Additionally, Skype for Business has its own installation which is separate from Microsoft 365 Business Professional desktop apps installation. Windows OS: 11 Pro w/ Windows updates. Issues: Users are unable to remove Skype for Business from their desktop by clicking “Uninstall” located on the Windows Start menu. Teams upgrade requires Skype for Business settings to be set manually via the Teams Admin Center. Using the PowerShell command: uninstall-package 'Microsoft Skype for Business MUI (English) 2016' to remove Skype for Business requires NuGet to be manually installed prior to performing a removal task or does not remove the application at all. The odd thing about this is that the system recognizes that a 2016 edition of Skype for Business exists. Note: Microsoft Word reads with the following version number: Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2508 Build 16.0.19127.20082) 64-bit Granting and then revoking API permissions via Entra Admin center does not separate Skype for Business from the Microsoft 365 Business Professional installation. Uninstalling Microsoft 365 Business Professional desktop apps only removes the Skype for Business app temporarily until reinstallation occurs.35Views0likes0CommentsHow to reset windows 10 password without losing data?
Hey everyone, Windows 10 asks me changing the password a couple of time sin one year. Unfortunately, I've forgotten the login password to my admin account since last change and currently locked out. I have a lot of important files and applications C drive, so I'm trying to find a way to reset Windows 10 password without losing any data. I've seen various methods online, but I'm hesitant to try them without knowing if they're safe and won't result in data loss. Does anyone have experience with this situation? I'm looking for a step-by-step guide on how to reset my Windows 10 password without losing any of my files or installed programs. Any advice on tools or methods that are particularly user-friendly for non-tech savvy individuals would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help and suggestions!82KViews0likes12CommentsHow to install the lastes Windows Server Insiders build?

I have a server that I am trying to install Server 2019 Standard. The Volume Licensing activation key is not working. The product was downloaded from the Volume Licensing portal along with the license key. The activation pane shows a product ID, and on the product key space the last (5) digits are already populated. The server had a previous Server 2016 evaluation running on it before it was reformatted before attempting to install Server 2019.Solved209KViews3likes28CommentsHelp me get FLIP to work.
Here's my specific question (I think): How can I use Teams for Education if I already use my school email for Teams for Business? My end goal is to be able to use the FLIP app available in Teams for Education. I intend to use FLIP as a video discussion platform for my university classes (FLIP is formerly Flipgrid, a 3rd-party tool from 2012, and acquired by Microsoft in 2018). FLIP is no longer supported by Microsoft as a 3rd-party tool. Recent news articles indicate that certain features have been integrated into Teams for Education. - https://help.flip.com/hc/en-us/articles/23985951972375-A-New-Chapter-for-Flip-FAQ - https://help.flip.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003080054-Microsoft-Teams-integration - https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msteams/forum/all/integrating-flip-into-microsoft-teams/fd43bd57-f755-4c4c-ab0d-2c71f79fdca3 My university already has a Microsoft Teams for Business account. But, FLIP isn't available for Teams for Business. As part of the tool acquisition deal, Microsoft only agreed to provide it for free for educational purposes. Therefore, the FLIP app was removed from the Teams for Business product on July 1st, 2024. So far as I understand, FLIP is only being integrated into the Teams for Education product. I tried downloading Teams for Education, but when I install it, Teams for Business opens. I can't open Teams for Education. Here are my questions: 1. Sales: Can I download and use Teams for Education independently from Teams for Business? Does Teams for Education require purchasing a separate license? Would I need a separate email (apart from the email I use for Teams for Business)? 2. Teams for Business Engineers: Is there a chance similar functionality to the FLIP app will be integrated into Teams for Business? If so, when might I expect that? Many thanks for helping me get FLIP (features) working for my students for Fall semester.4.5KViews0likes3CommentsTeams Room "Cannot Fetch Calendar"
Good day, I have just finished setting up our Lenovo ThinkSmart Hub500. Creating the room and users account as per MS instructions is all done and Teams Room is logged in. I can start a new meeting and project but no meetings are showing up. At the top it says "Cannot Fetch Calendar". What are we doing wrong? Thanks.137KViews0likes46Comments
