Hello, I am pretty new to the OneDrive - SharePoint part of MS. I handle extremely sensitive files, and for that reason I chose MS over other file sharing providers. When I send links via the "share" option in One Drive, the recipient is not getting any email. Likewise, when I request files, the recipient is not getting notified of the request, and even after they upload documents, it uploads in my OneDrive, but I am not notified. Is that the standard? Do I need a exchange email for that? Can I use my standard email (Hosted by gmail)? Thank you very much. P.S. if I copy the link, it does work82Views0likes2CommentsSharing one drive files directly from outlook
My team is relatively new to using one drive. We are looking to migrate our files over to OneDrive to be able to collaboratively work on files however we cant seem to share one drive files directly from an outlook email e.g. via attach file. For addiitonal context our files are housed in an ms teams 'Files' section which I have then synced to my computer so these can be accessed through file explorer. However when I try to attach a file from an outlook email and choose a file in one of these synced folders it just downloads and attaches as a local file. I am aware you can use the 'browse web locations' under the attach files drop down however I then have to manually navigate through all the subfolders until I get to the target documents' location. Ideally I want to be able to pin onedrive folders to my quick access that I can use to reach the onedrive files and not download them as local files to attach. Any tips on sharing OneDrive files directly from outlook would be great.Solved737Views0likes2CommentsSimple selective file sharing on a network
Hi - At home I have six PCs on a network. I have a folder on my PC which I want to share with four of the other five people. None have login access to my PC. When I set the access on this folder to "Everyone", they can all access the folder. But I want only four to access the folder. How do I tell Windows to allow for these four only, when they don't have login access to my PC? I cannot give them login access to my PC. This is a very basic and simple question - it is not a complicated situation. Thanks to all!503Views0likes1CommentExternal email address not found when using the share option from SharePoint, Teams or OneDrive
###RESOLVED### Hello all, I am having a hard time finding any articles in regard to the fact we are no longer able to share documents with externals while every setting we can find states the opposite. We have recently only changed the main SharePoint site (which was a classic teams site) to a modern communication site. We know this can have an effect on the way the sharing settings were set on the old site. As well as the fact this can only be done by a Global Admin or SharePoint Admin not a site owner (which I am also). Our sharing settings are as follows: Sorry the text is in Dutch but the English text is located on the same rows so should be easily translated. We do not allow external or guests access without verification so that is the chosen setting for the whole organisation at any point in the SharePoint environment. On the main site this is the same: On Organisation level this is also the case: However this is the error we receive when anyone else then an admin tries to share a document: The message states we (SharePoint, Teams or OneDrive) cannot find an exact match. The address is my personal email address so I know it exists. We have checked all settings in the backend with PowerShell but couldn't find one setting that would block SharePoint in resolving external email addresses or why this would be different from the old main site in the same organisation. If there is anyone who has dealt with a similar issue please let me know! I will enter a ticket at Microsoft but if there is an easy way to fix this let me know. Thanks!3.8KViews0likes5CommentsAccessing Files in Microsoft Teams on iOS Device
I am a teacher and I use Microsoft Teams in my classroom. I store all of my class copies for the students in the files tab. I keep all copies in the read only "Class Materials" section. My students have no problem accessing the files in this folder on a desktop, but it was just brought to my attention that on an iOS device within the Teams app, the "Class Materials" folder doesn't show up. I have logged out of the app and logged back in and no luck. Any fixes?17KViews0likes3CommentsOneDrive File Sharing - Access Denied
My company has SharePoint and employees have our OneDrives connected to it. Whenever I go to share OneDrive links through Microsoft Outlook (I use the web browser version in Google Chrome rather than the desktop app) no matter what I do, 9 times out of 10 I get a response that the person I shared with gets an access denied message. I've tried the following: Copy Link (anyone with the link can view, anyone with the link can edit, people in ::company name:: with the link) Enter a name or email (usually sharing within my company so same email domain) Upload and share option directly in Outlook email. I've never had this issue in the past using OneDrive personal prior to arriving to this company -- could it be something with our IT setup or network? I'm at a loss and it's embarrassing having this issue over and over with my colleagues.1.2KViews0likes0CommentsHELP: Corporate Data Storage on SharePoint without hindering Collaboration
Our organization has actively embraced Teams and been using SharePoint prior to Teams. We really dove head first and created Teams for various departments, functional areas, and one-off situations and the impact has been noticeable (positively). That said, we are engaging on a global corporate strategy to reign in our data to ensure we don't carry several copies, files are easy to find, and yet still secure. The leadership approach was to create a single Document Library and have all areas of the business dump files in this flat folder structure. This a nightmare for permission/access management, it removes the majority of collaboration available on the platform, and feels outdated. With a concurrent NetSuite implementation that would see SharePoint files available in NetSuite for record association this approach made sense but I am seeing a lot of negative effects of this approach and fear we are headed down a road that will make us worse not better. I am seeking advice from anyone/everyone out there that has dealt with a similar situation as I know there is much better approaches that provide data security, ease of use, "less painful" permission management, and enabled collaboration. Ideally, I want to maintain an approach of Teams with SharePoint enabled sites for each functional area and department yet have this feel like it is in one-cohesive location enabling the requirements listed above. As additional context, I had dabbled with using a Hub but we ended up setting the communication site used as the Hub as our root site and that is now not possible (Hub site cannot be the Root site). Maybe the solution is around a Hub. I look forward to any recommendations and dialog and thank you for your time!2.3KViews0likes4Comments
