Outlook Classic - Crashes When Drafting with Copilot in RDS environment
Hi all, I'm interested to see whether anyone else is experiencing this issue, particularly in an RDS environment. We have a number of users who have paid-for Microsoft 365 Copilot licences, including the integration within Office applications such as Outlook, Word and Excel. In Outlook Classic running on our Windows Server 2019 RDS environment, Copilot no longer works correctly. When a user presses Alt + I to Draft with Copilot, or clicks the Copilot pencil icon within the body of an email, and then enters a prompt, Copilot displays "Writing your email" and the blue progress bar starts moving from left to right. At that point it freezes, Outlook crashes, and closes. In some cases Outlook will automatically reopen after the crash. The Copilot integration appears to work fine in Excel and Word. Is anyone else running Outlook Classic in a Windows Server 2019 RDS environment with Microsoft 365 Copilot licences? I would be interested to know if you have experienced the same issue. The automatic document summary feature for Word duly turned up and Copilot for Microsoft 365 has been busy generating summaries ever since. The feature works well for documents with less than 80,000 words, which should be enough for most documents but limits summarization for documents that might use it most, like complex plans or contracts. In any case, I haven’t found a way to turn document summaries off. After writing about the new 100GB mailbox quota for Microsoft 365 Business Tenants, I was asked if Microsoft 365 Copilot supports Exchange Online archive mailboxes. It does. Microsoft Search indexes items in archive mailboxes, so Copilot can find and use items from those mailboxes. Interestingly, the DLP policy to block external email for Copilot didn’t work. Microsoft 365 Family Copilot Should Follow the Household
In my household, my 76-year-old mother pays for our Microsoft 365 Family subscription. She uses email and basic Office features and is unlikely to ever use Copilot. I, however, actively use Microsoft technologies and would benefit greatly from Copilot in Word, Excel, Outlook, and OneNote. Today, Copilot benefits included with Microsoft 365 Family are tied exclusively to the subscription owner. As a result, the person paying for the subscription receives an AI benefit they may never use, while another licensed family member who would use it every day cannot access it. I believe Microsoft should consider either allowing the Family owner to designate a Copilot beneficiary or allowing all Family members to draw from a shared monthly pool of AI credits. Microsoft 365 Family was designed around the concept of a household. The current Copilot policy does not always reflect how real families actually use Microsoft's products. Microsoft 365 Outlook Classic Latest Update Copilot issues
Hello to all, we are currently using the Microsoft 365 Outlook Classic, using version Version 2604 Build 16.0.19929.20172 (Current Channel) Copilot works as expected; However ever since the next update was released (Version 2605 (Build 20026.20076)) some users including me, have been getting the below error: I have tried uninstalling and installing the latest version directly, with the same issue. Scanned for any corrupted system files with no issues,but still get the error; I have tried the update Licence from the Outlook application, with no issues but the copilot something went wrong error keeps on persisting. Internet searches are very vague and the I have found some registry suggestions which I have also tried with no solution. The only way to get Copilot working on Outlook Classic was to revert to a previous working version, only then Copilot works as expected. This only happens in Outlook Classic; Copilot works fine on the latest version of Microsoft Office 365 with Word, Excel, etc. For those that maybe might ask why not switch to the New Outlook, we have had issues with it and it has been recommended to use the Classic Outlook for the time being. New Outlook is an acceptable email client. Some dislike its lack of support for different features, like COM add-ins. Then Copilot gets involved and adds options to generate morning briefing and nightly wrap-ups without any way to disable the feature for individual users or the entire tenant.
