Frequently when using Copilot, it will stop answering with a message insisting on a change of topic. These refusals to respond don't seem to be associated with the topic under discussion or any objectionable material, but are entirely random. Starting a new topic and restating the unanswered question just gives the same "change topic" message. The only fix is to shut Copilot down and try again later. Needless to say, this is suboptimal. Does anyone know what's going on around here and how to fix it?17KViews5likes13CommentsHow to use Copilot in word to reference a source document. to create a new one
Scenario. We have a template requirements document in word which we want to use as a template. This document has many sections with titles, and we want to be able to use another document with a captureTable in it (ideally this would be excel but word can't use excel as a reference) and use it to essentially complete the new document using the information in the capturedocument Goal: Have word complete a new document, using the ReferenceDocument as the template using the CaptureDocument as the source for information. The Column 1 in the table refers to main sections i the Reference Document. Has anyone got any tips or sample prompts they have had success with for this scenario... Here is an example of the Prompt we tried: Scenario: You are a technical presales consultant and have been speaking to a customer about the requirements for an upcoming project based on a set of deliverables, objectives and goals. Context: You need to create a document using the TemplateDocument as a template that can will be used by the Technical Consultancy team to create a statement of works and commercial pricing. Document: Create a new document using ReferenceDocument as a template and reference the relevant document sections using the information within the table in the CaptureDocument. The data in Column 1 relate to the sections in the reference document. CaptureDocument: CaptureSource ReferenceDocument: RefDocument Additional Information: For each of the key products listed in the CaptureDocument such as Microsoft Defender and Sentinel, provide a table in an appendices section which summarizes the product, key competitor products they compete with and include a link to the relevant Microsoft Learn documentation for reference.7.8KViews1like4CommentsSeeking Insights: Microsoft Copilot vs. ChatGPT Team - Performance and Usability Concerns
I've been exploring Microsoft Copilot for the last few months, aiming to integrate it into our workflow for its purported advanced AI capabilities, supposedly akin to what we've seen with ChatGPT. However, my experience has been less than satisfactory, raising several concerns about its current effectiveness and readiness for "prime time" use in professional environments. Firstly, the response times and the overall fluidity of interaction with Copilot have been notably slower and more cumbersome than what I've experienced with ChatGPT. This difference is stark, considering both products are said to leverage the same underlying OpenAI Platform One of the fundamental issues I've encountered with Copilot is its inability to accurately perform simple tasks that I would expect to be straightforward, such as adding up columns in Excel correctly. These are not complex queries but basic functionalities that significantly impact daily productivity. Furthermore, when attempting to utilize Copilot to pull information from tagged documents, the results have been consistently disappointing. Either it fails to retrieve the needed information or, worse, provides incorrect answers. This reliability issue is a significant barrier to trust and dependency on the tool for professional purposes. In contrast, ChatGPT Team license has demonstrated a more robust performance. Whether it's querying document information or needing swift, accurate responses, ChatGPT consistently delivers a superior experience. The speed and reliability difference is night and day, making me question the current value proposition of onboarding more users to Copilot. Given these challenges, I'm reaching out to this community to hear your thoughts and experiences: Have you encountered similar issues with Microsoft Copilot, and how have you addressed them? Are there specific settings, updates, or workarounds that have improved your experience with Copilot? For those who have used both Copilot and a ChatGPT Team Account, what are your comparative insights regarding their performance and utility in professional settings? Wondering if it's just me noticing these things or not.Solved6.7KViews0likes2CommentsWork /.Web toggle dissapears from Copilot on Edge/Windows
For a Copilot for Microsoft 365, a licensed user, sees the Work (graph-grounded chat) / Web toggle. At some point, the switch just disappears. It might appear the next day, or at random and then, disappear again. Completely at random times. At the same time, the same problem happens on bing.com/chat, where the toggle also comes and goes.5.9KViews2likes6CommentsHow To Reference Files Using Copilot In Word By Copy Pasting The URL
First off, I have no idea why what I'm about to type is not published in the existing Copilot in Word training materials produced by Microsoft. Nevertheless, if you are trying to use the pre-fetched files or trying to type in file names and they aren't showing up....here is how to get around all of that. Also, it does require some pre-work in step number 1 - but this is a one time deal. Search for clipboard settings in your Windows settings Tap the windows button on your keyboard and type clipboard...select "clipboard settings" Turn on "Clipboard History" to "On" if it isn't on already Navigate to the location of the file you want to reference (OneDrive/SharePoint) Open the details pane for the file and scroll down to the bottom to the "Path" section and click the icon. This copies the absolute URL (just the straight up path - no garbage included) to the file Repeat as necessary until you have up to 3 file paths copied Go to your Copilot prompt and type what you want to happen with the files you are about to reference from your clipboard (summarize, rewrite, create new file based on.....) Within that same prompt, hold down the windows button and press "V" This will bring up your clipboard history (if you followed the 1st step above correctly) Now you can paste in the URLs of the files you want to reference You will know the files were found/accepted after you hit the space bar as the URL will resolve into a hyperlink with the title of the file 3 files is currently the max you can reference in one prompt Yes this is a bit manual - however I see no other way to reference a file if it doesn't show up in the prefetch window or when you start typing the name of the file. Update! After you go through the steps above, when you come back later....typing out the file name seems to work. I guess there is some caching going on. Good luck and please let us know if this works for you!5.5KViews3likes2Comments"Copilot" Appeared at Top of Teams Chat, Now It's Gone
About 1/3 of our users, including myself, have a Copilot for Microsoft 365 license. App permission policy allows "Copilot", but not "M365 Chat", as that is being sunsetted. App Setup policy does not include Copilot, because it doesn't even appear in the list to be added. A week or so ago, Copilot appeared at the top of the chat list on the left. Then, suddenly, this week it disappeared, and users have been asking me where it went. Did something change? Is it coming back? I understand that the Copilot button can be clicked inside an existing chat or meeting, but users licked being able to chat with it, just like any other person in the list. Just wondering if its disappearance is by design or if I have something misconfigured.4.8KViews1like1CommentGetting help from Copilot what I can ask / prompt Copilot - opinions?
Making Copilot available to users is one thing, writing prompts is another. What are the plans to help users use a Copilot? For me, the simple question is, where can I get help from what I can ask the Copilot for? Writing "Help" in the public preview Copilots gives me sometimes a well written text like this one in Power Automate: "Sorry, I couldn’t understand your question. Please rephrase it and try again. I’m able to answer questions that are about Power Automate and are written in English." and sometimes an error. Asking for help as a question like "What can I ask you?" gives the same message. In some implementations of Copilot we have examples provided, but I can imagine that it quickly becomes frustrating when you try something and it doesn't work and you don't even know what you can ask for. What do you think would be acceptable for end users?4.3KViews0likes4CommentsQuestion about M365 CoPilot: GPT Models and tailored standard instructions.
Hello, Thanks for this section, I have 2 questions: How does M365 CoPilot work with the GPT models? Is it region dependent? I am wondering that as I see the Azure Open AI services have according to the region different releases of the GPT models (the latest GPT-4Turbo is just for a bunch of). Differently from a classic ChatGPT where I have the ability to define a pre-defined set of instructions related to the positive and negative way the bot should manage the data answer, I only have the initial prompt here. Is it possible to define a baseline for how CoPilot can interact with users within the same organization/tenant? Thanks in advance! Fabrizio4.2KViews0likes1Comment
