Hi all, first of all I am an IT Professional but not an expert on Sharepoint. I have a general understanding on how it works and basic administration of SP. I have posted that same question in the D365 forums but did not get any response after one week. I guess it is too technical for sales people. So I really appreciate any help on this topic. What we have: - Dynamics 365 Sales (obviously) online - Everything else on-prem (AD, Exchange...) - Azure AD with AAD connect sync, so online login with on-prem domain credentials is possible - Sharepoint 2013 Foundation - Sharepoint online site for Dynamics 365 Sales What we want: - Sharepoint installation online or on-prem that can be used by other departments together with the sales people - Documents from D365 sales should be accessible for people in other departments but each department should also have its own area (site?) Questions that came up: - Is it possible to export the current content of the 2013 foundation and import it into Sharepoint online, esp. the site which is used by D365? - Is it possible to reconfigure D365 Sales to not use an online Sharepoint site but an on-prem? If yes, will I be able to move the current content located online to the Sharepoint on-prem? - At the moment we configured permissions in Sharepoint online manually but I know there are 3rd party tools to sync the permissions with D365. If I use one of the tools will I still be able to configure additional permissions for other users that do not use D365 sales? - What else could be the best approach on accomplishing this? I know migration from Sharepoint 2013 foundation to 2016/2019 on prem is another topic so this should not be addressed here. Thanks in advance for any helpful comments Daniel1.2KViews0likes3CommentsSharing Templates xltx, dotx via MS Teams and Sharepoint
We have created a team in Ms Teams whose primary purpose is to hold MS Office document type templates mainly Excel & Word. So, there is a channel in MS Teams where we upload the various templates (xltx, dotx files). We then use SharePoint to create hyperlinks to those files. This allows us to create applications where you can click on a hyperlink to access the template. It all works well except for one thing - when you click on the Sharepoint hyperlink it opens the template. I am having difficulty working out how to arrange it so that when you click on the link it spawns a new document. That is we want to replicate the same functionality as it would if you opened a template on your desktop. To access a template you first must open say Excel and then from within Excel open the document. So, I guess the issue is when you click on the hyperlink, SharePoint is creating a scenario where it assumes you have opened Excel already and therefore takes you into the template. For obvious reasons this is not what we want because it will result in users corrupting the xltx, dotx files.9.8KViews0likes9Commentsadding sharepoint document library to teams
Hello all, I have a Sharepoint document library I have added to Microsoft Teams. The Sharepoint site default view is to group by company and then area in the company. On Teams on my windows computer I can browse the groups in Teams but on my android tablet and phone I click the document library it throws up "We cant get files, please check back in abit". I'm guessing Microsoft hasn't added the features yet android to view group by. Has anyone had this experience? An observation, on windows you can see all column names in the document view, on android you can only view the file name. Is there a way to view columns names on android? Windows screen shot where you can nagvigate the group bys. Typical phone shot where you can only see the file names, no other columns (document libraries that that default views are using group bys cant even be viewed, see error above).770Views0likes0CommentsMicrosoft Teams Tagging, But Not as You'd Expect
Tagging. But not as you’d expect it to be. Microsoft Teams is introducing a way to group members of a team using tags. Learn this and more in this week's SharePoint Fest newsletter! http://bit.ly/SPFestNov20 Join us at SharePoint Fest Chicago: www.sharepointfest.com/Chicago594Views1like0Comments
