35 TopicsA major step backwards: Classic Outlook vs. New Outlook on changing the "From" sending account
The Issue: In New Outlook, changing the "From" address after you have already started composing an email message opens a new, blank message window, forcing you to copy and paste your original message subject, contents, and attachments. This is an irritating change from Classic Outlook, where you could simply switch the sending account from a dropdown menu while keeping your drafted message fully intact. Expected behavior: When changing the "From" address while composing a mail message, it should simply be updated to the newly selected account, and the body, subject line, and any attachments of the message you are writing at that time should be preserved within the same composition window. The Classic Outlook Way (The Right Way) to Switch the "From" address: For years, my workflow in Classic Outlook has been simple. I click "New Email." The new message window opens, and the "From" field shows the currently selected account. I start writing my message. Then I realize I wanted to send it from another mail account. I click the "From" button, and a dropdown menu appears with all my accounts. I pick the one I want, and I'm good to go. The message content is untouched, it's all still there. Changing the From-address is a two-second action that is intuitive and efficient. The "New Outlook" Way (The Baffling Way) to Switch the "From" address: Now, I try to do the exact same thing in the "New Outlook." I click "New Email." The new message window opens, and the "From" field shows the currently selected account. I start writing my message. Then I realize I wanted to send it from another mail account. I click the "From" button, and a dropdown menu appears with all my accounts. I pick the one I want. But then, after choosing a different From-address, a completely blank new message is opened. And I have to copy/paste everything from the message window I was writing in before to the newly opened message window. So annoying! This feels like a classic case of simplifying the UI to the point where it loses critical functionality. What used to be a simple dropdown selection in Classic Outlook is now an irritating multi-step process in New Outlook. It seems to be an intentional design choice, but it's one that ignores the reality of how users with multiple mail accounts actually work.38Views1like1Commentoptional suggestion: new menu bar app for mac
i wish i could launch one of my edge profile (no matter from which edge) directly in the menu bar. so you create a profile launcher.app and then i can search a profile installed on my 4 browser, without need to launch a browser. at the moment we can do similar things once the browser is launched using the dock icon or using the sync icon or using the menu bar option inside edge. but there is still the limit that we can do it for one browser. we cannot search profiles installed on all 4 browser. plus every time you launch the browser, you open the last used profile. so we first need to close and then switch (which requires time). profile switching is slower in edge compared to google. now with this new app you would simply launch a profile inside an edge app, without launching the previous profile.4.4KViews2likes10CommentsAssistance Required for Account Recovery
Hello, I am having trouble accessing my account: r.**@*.*). When I attempt to log in, I receive the message: "Something went wrong" (without any error code). Upon trying to reset my password, I discovered that a different email (er*****@talktaik.online) is linked to the account, which raises concerns that my account may have been compromised. Despite entering all the required information for recovery, I am informed that it’s insufficient. Could you please assist in resetting the password or provide a way to send the recovery link to the correct email: r.**@*.*? Any alternative solutions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your support. Best regards,726Views1like1CommentMicrosoft Account Stolen and Frozen, Unable to Exit Insider Program
Hello everyone, I’m facing a rather challenging situation and would greatly appreciate your assistance. The Microsoft account I used to join the Windows Insider Program has been hacked and stolen. After reaching out to Microsoft Support, the account has been frozen to prevent further misuse. As a result, I'm currently unable to exit the Windows Insider Program: the new Microsoft account has not joined the program, and the old account cannot be logged in. I kindly request your help in either recovering the old account or finding a way to exit the Insider Program so that I can return to the stable version. Thank you in advance for your support!34Views0likes0CommentsRecovery does not work for suddenly blocked hotmail account
Hi, I try to help a friend who is suddenly locked out of his hotmail account. The account was made very long ago, so unfortunately the recovery emailadres doesn't exists any more. We did the complete recovery process (twice already) and were able to give exact emailadresses and email subjects like requested. Immediately after submitting we received this: We have determined that the information you provided was not sufficient for us to validate your account ownership. This cannot be reviewed by a person in zero seconds. And the automated system clearly fails! What extra info can we give? Also: We have taken the additional step of blocking your account until we can verify you as the account owner. This will prevent any further use of the account and protect you from any possible malicious activity. So the blocked account is extra blocked? How can we access the account again? The owner is not good with computers (that's why I help him) but he needs his account for important documents like his paychecks, contracts, tickets... Thanks, any help is appreciated!1.9KViews0likes2CommentsWhat Are the Benefits and Considerations for Switching to a Local Account
I recently inherited a laptop and started using it, only to discover that it's currently set up with a Microsoft account instead of a local account. I'd like to switch to a local account, but I'm concerned about what features or data might become inaccessible as a result. Specifically, one of the laptop's internal drives has BitLocker encryption enabled. If I switch to a local account, will I still be able to access the encrypted drive, or will it become inaccessible? Any insight or guidance would be greatly appreciated!2.7KViews0likes1CommentNo longer able to sign-in to Teams (work or school) after failed invite to organisation
Hello, I've been working with clients over Teams (work or school) as a guest of their organization for many years without major issues. I'm also subscribed to Office 365 Business, which is why also have a business account with the same e-mail as my private account. Recently, a client asked me to join their team and it caused major problems: I sometimes was able to sign-in with the web browser, but did not manage to change into their organisation. Sometimes it would show up in my list of organisation but not really lead anywhere and often remove that option after chosing it from the list. I could however still join my other client's team with the Teams (work or school) desktop app. While troubleshooting the issue, I deleted my Teams cache and restarted my computer multiple times, but the issue seemed to get progressevily worse. Now the Teams (work or school) app will always cause an "We're sorry - we've run into an issue" screen when I'm trying to sign-in with my e-mail. The web app would present me with a choice of which account to use that is associated with that e-mail (private or company). Choosing company would also provoke the "We're sorry" message, while my private account works and let's me sign into my previous client's team as a guest (which no longer works with the destop app). After a successful sign-out and sign-in to my private account, it would also list my new client in a dropdown menu of organsiations, but choosing that in the beginning would lead me to a Teams interface with no access to anything. When I choose it by changing organisations after a successfull login to my old client, it would lead me back to the dropdown list of clients but with the new client removed. I strongly suspect that there could be an issue with my account. I tried seeking support, but was not able to find a contact for account related issues with Teams. Especially since it seems to be related with my private account. As a software developer, I'm usually quite patient and resourceful when it comes to solving technical issues, but this one is really pushing my limits. What could I possibly do to troubleshoot this or get assistance with the state of my Microsoft accounts? The matter is quite urgent, since it is actually costing me time and money while I'm no longer able to access Teams. Thanks in Advance!1.5KViews0likes1CommentCan't fix problem with Windows Insider Program account
Hi everyone. For several days now I keep getting an error when I attempt to fix a problem with my Windows Insider account. The screen shows below information (same as attached screenshot): Your Windows Insider account requires attention to get Insider Preview builds. As soon as I hit "Fix the problem" I get a message for a split of second saying "Loading. This won't take long." and it changes to "Something went wrong. We aren't able to talk to our service right now. Please try again later." I am registered for the Insider Program and have tried several solutions that I've found on the Internet (registry keys change/add keys, start Windows Services, created new Windows profile with admin rights) - no luck. Anyone has an idea how to fix this? Thanks in advance for any replies.8.8KViews1like12CommentsPersonal Teams Account - Cannot Create or Join Teams (Office 365 Subscriber)
I just left a company that used Teams, and no longer have access. However, I appreciated the functionality, and still need Teams access to be able to join other Teams for collaboration or create my own. As such, I signed up for an Office 365 account this week. However, when I sign into Teams with this account, I have no option to create a team or join someone else's team. The only options are Activity, Chat, and Calendar. Even utilizing a link from a collaborator to join their Team does nothing. Is there a step that I am missing? I have read on multiple other sites and they all seem to point to restricted access. However, since this is a personal account, unrelated to any business, I do not see how this could be the case for me. Any insights on how to fix this or how to join my clients' Teams?3.6KViews0likes2Comments
