Gracias y saludos32Views0likes0CommentsWindows Server 2016 on ESXi, two servers solution in case of failure
Hi, I'm facing a problem I still can't find a solution to. Short description below. ESXi virtualization environment has a Windows Server 2016 Datacenter installed. The Server has AD switched on, for the sake of our discussion I'm naming it "contoso.local". There are shared resources on the virtualized server such as shared folders and files, also there is MS SQL server which receives incoming connections from Windows clients (Win10/11). What do I need to achieve? I need to create another virtualized Windows Server 2016 Datacenter or Standard which will be an alternative server that will start offering its services immediately in case of the another server failure. What do I mean by "immediately" here? I mean, the switching procedure/time must be immediate and all the resources such as shared folders or SQL databases must be up-to-date. So, if at 1:00 PM the first server has a failure (disconnected, shut down by mistake etc), the other server must take control of the client machines at 1:05 PM. And as I mention all shared resources and SQL connections must stay the same but on the second server. The users on client machines can't have their work disrupted (any open Word documents in shared foilders intact or financial software connections kept on). I'm aware of the fact that the second server must be a sort of replica that works all the time and receives data from the server so it must be a 1-1 copy of all data that it constantly updates itself with new data coming from the first server. The question is - how can this be done ? I tried Cluster failover, storage replica already but this mechanism didn't work out. I created two disks (logs, data) according to step-by-step instructions but it is still not a solution to the problem. I'll appreciate any advice to my issue111Views0likes2CommentsIssue with storage
Weet iemand wat ik kan doen?151Views0likes3CommentsDrivers to install Windows after wiping out partisions
I have two servers (an old physical server and a VM hosted by VMware Workstation) with 3 iSCSI disks each. A previous Linux installation was wiped out using Gparted from both servers. When I try to install Windows Server 2022 I can't select any drive to install Windows and I am requested to load a driver. Where can I find the driver to recognize the disks? What can I do with Gparted or any other tool to make the disks visible by Windows installer? By the way, I can install Linux on both servers without any problem. Is there a reliable and quick way to move files between OneDrive accounts? Be this via Powershell or other solutions? Using the sync / copy feature is slow and unreliable, especially if those accounts are based in regions with slow internet connectivity and we have lots of files to move. Use cases: When staff leave we want to move their OneDrive files to other OneDrive accounts or when merging several OneDrive accounts into one. Many ThanksSolved4.7KViews2likes5CommentsNested-V Dedup corruption 26100.1742 and Insider 26296.5001 (and Server 2022) is still there.
Nested-V, host can be Server 2019, Server 2022, Windows 10, Windows 11. Can be Intel or AMD. SSD recommended, 32 GB minimum. 1st level guest is Server 2022, 2025 or the newest vNext, dedup on drive D : active where the nested VMs reside. And they experience data corruption, and in some rare cases even on the D : drive of the 1st level guest. Does not happen if 1st level guest is Server 2019, rock solid then. (I have to use D : with a space, because that over-eagerness of office products to force auto-guess and auto-correct things crept into this forum too, converting it to a smiley!) The video, in that case Server 2022 on Win11 as host:https://www.joumxyzptlk.de/tmp/microsoft/S2022-Nested_Deduplication_VDI-Hyperv_profile_kills_filesystem_v2.mp4 See here my previous posts: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/windows-server-insiders/server-vnext-26040-and-server-2022-deduplication-data-corruption/m-p/4047321 Here: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/windows-server-insiders/server-2025-hyper-v-deduplication-corruption-is-still-there/m-p/4136286 Here: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/windows-server-insiders/26063-deduplication-data-corruption-is-still-there/m-p/4067827 Still perfectly reproducible, in this case the host was just upgraded to Win11 24h2.What is new and different? I know you (i.e. Microsoft) not only does have a bug entry, it got reproduced, and in one case I even know the CPU type to be an E5-1650 where this bug got reproduced (though with ~50% chance there since that CPU is old and slow). I even know it got sorted into "existing features fixed" category this bug belongs since deduplication is not a new feature. Here the two screens from todays re-test: Happy fixing! I am lucky I never used deduplication on a CSV in a Hyper-V Cluster - I was just about to do in 2023, but then this happened. kind regards, Joachim Otahal691Views1like5CommentsThousands of pictures have disappeared after I removed sync!!! Where are they?
All my pictures files have disappeared that were in my picture folder in Windows -- This PC -- Pictures. i have dozens of sub folders which all should contain photos but there are none there. zero. There should be thousands of photos from more than 25 years. but only photos are screen shots in one drive. Where are my photos? I accidentally linked onedrive to my PC. I unlinked and deleted the onedrive files to free up my Hotmail email space. All documents, video and music and files were still on my PC except pictures. I restored the picture folder as the message from one-drive said I had 30 days to restore and it's only been about 10 days. but it's empty except for screen shots that were saved directly to one drive. Where are all my thousands of photos. Where are they? I need them back.3.8KViews0likes4CommentsHow to transfer all photos from OneDrive into a hard drive?
Need to transfer all photos from OneDrive into a hard drive. I'm almost running out of space on OneDrive, and I want to find a way to quickly download all of them somewhere, before deleting them from the cloud. Thing is, it seems like I have to scroll and drag click all of the photos; 3 years worth of them, which is really tedious to do. I was wondering if there was an easier way to just download all of them somewhere? Note that this isn't about the OneDrive files, it's the OneDrive photos section, which I don't think you could sync to your computer. I'm using a MacBook Air M1 2021, if it helps. Thanks!17KViews0likes3CommentsSMB over QUIC Client Access Control is inconsistent
We have set up SMB over QUIC on some Windows 2025 file servers and generally it works well. Unfortunately of course, it is not secure by design since there is no MFA or conditional access in the picture. Thus securing the connections falls to its Client Access Control feature where you can allowlist or blacklist connections using client certificates. We implemented this in multiple environments (different domains) and although it works initially, it then starts failing with no changes having been made. The behavior is always the same across various domains once it starts failing - first the connection shows successful: The SMB connection was successfully established. Endpoint Name: FILES Transport: Quic Server socket address: x.x.x.x:443 Client socket address: x.x.x.x:8205 Connection ID: 0xB1D0039C01XXXXXX Mutual authentication: Yes Access control: Yes Then immediately it fails less than a second later: Quic connection shutdown. Error: Mutual authentication failed. Reason: Server close the connection. Endpoint Name: FILES Transport Name: \Device\SmbQUICIpv4_0006_x.x.x.x Guidance: This event indicates that the winquic connection is shutting down by the server. This event commonly occurs because the server certificate mapping is not created. It may also be caused by the server failed to configure the winquic connections.221Views0likes0Comments
