10 TopicsHow to set the retention Policy for Microsoft Teams Files
I want to set the retention policy for Teams Files. As I know, I can set the policy for SharePoint Site and OneDrive for business. I want to delete the files which belong to Teams. How do I choose the SharePoint sites and the OneDrive accounts in the setting. Thanks in advance.Solved16KViews2likes8CommentsAutomatic information about exceeding the set age of the Teams group
Due to our retention policy, after 3 years we start to delete messages, files and other resources. We would like to inform Teams group owners and administrators a few days before exceeding the age of 3 about starting automatic deletion.Solved907Views0likes1CommentSecuring Files in Teams
Just been through the Microsoft guidance on securing files in Teams; https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/security/office-365-security/secure-files-in-teams For highly Confidential files, the approach is to restrict the underlying SharePoint external sharing permissions, and leverage a Retention Label (which is automatically applied to all files uploaded to the Team site) as a DLP condition. This is fine, but once I have this all set up I'm left with one question that I hope someone can answer; A user can simply go to the underlying SharePoint site, change the retention label on a document, thereby completely bypassing the associated DLP policy. How can I make it so users cannot change the automatically applied site level retention label. Either I've missed something or that Microsoft guidance has a huge hole in it? Thanks in advance.Solved5.6KViews0likes5CommentsTeams chat pop-out running into issues with retention policy
Something brought to my attention today from one of my users. We recently had the ability to do Teams chat popout, which is great. However we have noticed the popout feature doesn't work in a peculiar scenario. Our retention for chat is set to clear after 24 hours. Now if I'm chatting with someone daily and want to pop out a chat, even though the retention policy has erased some of our conversations, then that's not a problem. If I go to someone I have never chatted with on Teams and want to pop that chat box out before I message them, also not a problem. However if there is someone I haven't chatted with in a week or so and I attempt to pop out a chat windows before I message them, the popout just gives me a spinning circle. Sometimes I get a message from Teams that says "Can't pop out this chat" and other times the box just spins until I close it. Only if I message that person first can I pop out the chat window. Anyone else using Teams Retention policies running into this problem?2.3KViews0likes1CommentTeams Retention
If you have a retention policy in place does it allow you to restore a whole Team if it is deleted? What about if a chat is edited can you restore previous versions? Can you restore a full Team and all chats messages/documents if a retention policy is not in place?2.9KViews0likes4CommentsRetention Policies for Chats and Channels
Hi everyone! If anyone would be willing to share their retention policies around chats and channels that would be great- I am trying to get a sense of how long people are keeping 1:1 chats and channel messages. I have seen delete chats after 90 days, but I know users like to search their chat history- wondering what limitation your orgs are using to ensure you don't save everything but still allow users to utilize the search capability to make their lives easier. Any thoughts/feedback would be appreciated. Thank you!2.3KViews0likes1CommentHow to Put Together a Work From Home Environment Using Office 365
What if you had 24 hours to prepare before your team or workforce was locked out of the office? What would you set up to ensure co-workers could continue working and stay engaged? REgarding 365 ran a virtual hackathon this month to illustrate how organizations can set up the essentials required to send an entire workforce home in the wake of Coronavirus. Watch the hackathon and more in this week's http://www.sharepointfest.com newsletter: https://bit.ly/SPFestNewsMarch31?fbclid=IwAR3hg4TfgZ_HD6J0yoF4KOTq0z1vnOVw9Fyo7r9cifLCfkzG4cxb9TphuzI851Views0likes0CommentsTeams File Conversation Retention
Looking for clarification. If we set retention on Files and Channels, what happens to the conversation surrounding a file if the Channel retention is shorter than the SharePoint file retention. Does the conversation thread stick with the File, or is it removed at retention limit and then the file stays until its own limit?1.3KViews0likes1Comment
