Teams Retention
If you have a retention policy in place does it allow you to restore a whole Team if it is deleted?
What about if a chat is edited can you restore previous versions?
Can you restore a full Team and all chats messages/documents if a retention policy is not in place?
No, Retention Policies don't allow you to restore Teams or data within Teams. They are there to ensure that if a user deletes Teams data whilst within a retention period, then a copy pf the data is made and stored in a hidden SubstratesHolds folder in the group mailbox for the team. For more info on this, take a look at https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/retention-policies
- blue-manIron ContributorThanks - so how would we restore a Team if it was deleted by accident?
- blue-manIron ContributorOk found this https://docs.microsoft.com/en-gb/archive/blogs/uclobby/restore-deleted-teams-and-channels-from-microsoft-teams
So how long would a Team or channel be available for restoration after being deleted? 30 days?
