Hi, I have been using Microsoft Project for the web and the Teams chat connection with my development team. Unfortunately, something has happened since Thursday 13-02-2025 that means the chat window is not opening for a task (Microsoft Teams -> Channel -> Project -> Task -> Window) It is extremely annoying, as we use the chat to show examples of development (screenshots, etc.) Does anyone have the same problem, or a solution to how to solve the problem? There's a reasonably new project management tool in play. When should you use Microsoft Project versus the newer Microsoft Planner? There are pros and cons to both and it's important you know them before getting started. That, and proponents of Project may be going overkill now that there's a user-friendly 'competitor'. Here's some guidance to help you along the way. Hopefully you find this info useful! https://icsh.pt/ProjectOrPlanner1.9KViews4likes1CommentProject Online Resource Engagements update
A quick update, the Resource Engagements feature will not be automatically enabled for all on the 22nd September, this has been delayed. New PWA instances created will still have the engagements feature automatically but existing PWA instances with Resource plans will not be automatically updated to engagements in September.1.6KViews3likes3CommentsProject Online and Azure DevOps Integration
Any ideas on the plan for Project Online and Azure DevOps integration? The process for TFS to Project Server on prem is no longer supported. Predefined field maps only available connectivity, so not really a solution we can use. How are others replacing the TFSFieldMapping? Thanks!15KViews2likes3CommentsWrong place, wrong time
Turns out Project has nothing to do with wired and wireless display technology, who knew? (I'm not going to fill the forums with joke content, I swear. I know this is only my first post and I don't have a reputation to back that up, but please don't put a warning on my account or anything.)641Views2likes1CommentAccess Project Online from Project desktop client
Hallo, I need your help please. I have Project online desktop client and can't connect to the Project Web App. Error says "Project was unable to establish a connection with [Project Server URL]. This could be caused by a loss of network connectivity or inadequate permissions to connect to Project Web App." The URL name is defined in Project online desktop client as https://xxxxxxx.sharepoint.com/sites/PM.MCO I have been granted P5 license and defined in the security groups of Project managers and administrators145Views2likes0CommentsProject for the Web, Project Accelerator and Teams
Good Afternoon all, First time poster and great to be here. I am the head of Programmes and Projects for a SME and I have implemented Project for the Web and the Project Accelerator to great effect across my organisation. A client has asked us to implement for them however, due to the complexity of their organisation they have multiple, separate "organisations" under a single tenant (not for discussion here ). Due to this segregation, We have had to install a dedicated instance of Project for the Web and the Accelerator in a dedicated Power App environment (Not Default). The issue we now have is that we cannot integrate Project for the Web with Teams Channels and by extension, implement tasks directly to Engineering Team Planners. While the accelerator continues to provide great project and reporting solution, the lack of integration with Teams seriously reduces its effectiveness as a collaboration tool. Research to date indicates that only Project for the Web installed in the default instance (not best practice) will integrate with Microsoft teams. I post this out of hope than expectation however, can anybody out there in the community advise whether they have successfully resolved this challenge? I look forward to your responses.5.5KViews2likes11CommentsMaking effort calculations work in Project for the Web (P4W)
Dear all, we are having a hard time with "efforts" in P4W since the system is directly calculating the hours based on the number of assigned resources and the duration of the task. This does not reflect the reality in most organizations so a manual entry of the correct effort is needed. Since this feature seems to be missing for now I'm wondering how all of you are working around this lack of flexibility right now. I came up with the following scenarios but none seems to be a great fit: Scenario 1 - Split tasks Create one tasks with the correct effort but ignore the due date and create a milestone to indicate when the task needs to be completed. Advantage: Effort would reflect correct # of hours Drawback: First task would instantly appear as running late or late Scenario 2 - Ignore efforts in P4W Create single task and only pay attention to the duration. Outsource any effort and resource management to another system. Advantage: Gantt chart view would look correct. Drawback: Requires a separate system for effort and resource management. Any PowerBI reports are still reporting nonsense. Scenario 3 - Extend P4W to outsource efforts to a custom object Use custom CDS entity to store the actual efforts. Advantage: Effort calculation would be correct and appear in the same system. Drawback: The efforts cannot be entered in the project.microsoft.com user interface Please let me know if I missed a scenario or share you best practice!
