Hello guys, I have an DC which have two NICs, A for Domain service and B for camera server. I don't want the IP address of NIC B registered in our DNS, so I uncheck the auto register option in the advance setting of NIC B. However, the IP address of it still keep registering t our DNS even I have manually deleted that option. I have checked the steps in the official article and it doesn't help. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-server/networking/unwanted-nic-registered-dns-mulithomed-dc Any suggestion is much appreciated.32Views0likes1CommentVMXnet3 Server 2025 performance issues
Had an odd one crop up today. I updated my Server 2025 template to the 26063.1 release and then sysprepped it. Converted it back to a new VM and network performance was .25 Mbps down. Both on my local lan and on the internet. I removed the VMXnet3 and put in an E1000 and performance was exactly as expected. I shut the VM down, removed the E1000 put in a new network with vmxnet3 and again got horrible performance. I have not seen this with other deployments of 2025 earlier builds.2.9KViews1like14CommentsTroubleshooting Azure Function App Proxy with Private Blob Container Access for Static Web App
Recently, I shared a problem I’m facing in my testing environment with a friend. I’ve decided to bring this issue to an open forum discussion to gather additional insights. I hope you can help me figure out what might be missing in my configuration. **Context:** I’m trying to replicate a solution in my test environment but encountering difficulties in a specific scenario. **Scenario:** I have a Function App acting as a proxy for a Static Web App hosted in a Blob Container. This Blob Container is set to private access, meaning public access is disabled. **The Problem:** The goal is for my Function App to authorize users and direct them correctly to the Static Web App. However, it’s not working as expected. **What I’ve tried so far:** 1. Configured Managed Identity for the Function App and granted the necessary permissions to the Blob Container. 2. Properly set up authentication and created the App Registration, which works flawlessly. 3. Verified that the proxy functions correctly when the Blob Container’s public access is enabled. **Current behavior:** - When public access to the Blob Container is enabled, everything works fine. - When public access is disabled, even with the proxy configured, access fails, and an error message "resource not found" is returned. **My questions are:** 1. Do I need to configure something additional in the proxy definition file? 2. Is there a specific setting, like a private endpoint or something similar, that I should implement to resolve this issue? **Additional considerations:** I haven’t configured a private endpoint yet, but I’m considering whether this would be the most appropriate solution for my case. My initial expectation was that granting the necessary permissions to the Function App via Managed Identity would solve the issue, but it hasn’t. I appreciate any guidance or suggestions you can provide!34Views0likes1CommentNew server 2022 not connecting properly
I have a 2012r2 DC to which I added a new 2022 server. The server manager on the DC reports That the RPC server is unavailable, and that the target server name can not be resolved. The firewall has incoming ports 5985 and 5986 enabled. I have not installed AD yet on the new server DC1 I have been going down rabbit trails for longer than expected, what should I be looking for?21Views0likes0CommentsCarbon Negative by 2030: Microsoft’s Bold Commitment and Progress
In an era when climate change poses an existential threat, Microsoft has set a pioneering example with its ambitious goal of becoming carbon-negative by 2030. This commitment underscores the company’s dedication to sustainability and sets a benchmark for the tech industry. Let’s delve into the key milestones, the impact on the tech sector, and why this initiative is a game-changer. The Bold Commitment In January 2020, Microsoft announced its plan to be carbon-negative by 2030. This means the company aims to remove more carbon from the atmosphere than it emits. By 2050, Microsoft also pledges to remove all the carbon it has emitted since its founding in 1975. This bold commitment is part of a broader sustainability strategy that includes reducing carbon emissions, investing in renewable energy, and innovating in carbon removal technologies. Key Milestones and Progress Carbon Fee Implementation: Microsoft has implemented an internal carbon fee since 2012, which is instrumental in driving sustainability initiatives across the company. This fee is charged to business units based on their carbon emissions, incentivizing them to reduce their carbon footprint. Renewable Energy Investments: By 2025, Microsoft aims to power its data centers and operations with 100% renewable energy. As of 2023, the company has already achieved 70% renewable energy usage. Carbon Removal Technologies: Microsoft invests in innovative carbon removal technologies, such as direct air capture and reforestation projects. The company has committed $1 billion to its Climate Innovation Fund to accelerate the development of these technologies. Sustainable Data Centers: Microsoft’s data centers are becoming more energy-efficient and sustainable. The company is exploring using hydrogen fuel cells and other green technologies to power its data centers. Transparency and Accountability: Microsoft publishes an annual Environmental Sustainability Report detailing its progress and challenges. This transparency ensures accountability and encourages other companies to follow suit. Impact on the Tech Industry Microsoft’s commitment to becoming carbon-negative has far-reaching implications for the tech industry. It sets a precedent for other tech giants to adopt similar sustainability goals. The company’s investments in renewable energy and carbon removal technologies drive innovation and make these solutions more accessible and affordable for other businesses. Moreover, Microsoft’s sustainability initiatives are influencing its supply chain and partners. By requiring suppliers to report their carbon emissions and set reduction targets, Microsoft fosters a culture of sustainability throughout the tech ecosystem. Inspiring a Sustainable Future Microsoft’s journey towards becoming carbon-negative is not just about reducing its carbon footprint. It’s about inspiring a global movement towards sustainability. The company’s initiatives demonstrate that achieving economic growth while prioritizing the planet is possible. By adopting sustainable practices, businesses can contribute to a healthier environment and a more resilient economy. As a Microsoft partner in sustainability, myHerb is proud to support and promote these initiatives. Together, we can drive meaningful change and inspire others to join the fight against climate change. Let’s embrace sustainability and work towards a greener, more sustainable future. Got a bit of a weird issue here...... We have just started using AAD machines via autopilot & intune and doing testing on them accessing resources on our current onprem domain, got things sorted so they can access file shares and DFS namespace shares perfectly fine and thats all going through, but having an issue with intermittent issues with netlogon. There seems to be no pattern but when trying to hit \\domain\netlogon that will work but when trying \\domain.fqdn.gov.uk\netlogon that wont work. However without doing anything trying again a little while later and it will be the opposite way around that can access on the full fqdn but not the short name, and then to make it worse, sometimes both work at the same time. Different devices have been tried and had 2 side by side where one could access short but not fqdn and the other could access fqdn but not short. At the same time if i try to access any server shares on either short name or fqdn then those are fine, seems to just be issues with netlogon on the domain. at all times i can run to \\domain & \\domain.fqdn.gov.uk and the folder list of sysvol and netlogon both appear but its just guess work which is going to work. This happens the same on both our internal network and when connected via cisco anyconnect vpn back into our network. Hopefully someone has come across a similar issue and fixed it! Thanks if you have managed to read this far :)67Views0likes1CommentWindows 11 and NPS authentication issue
Hi everyone, I am in the process of testing Windows 11 23H2 and I am having issue with RADIUS Authentication. Radius Authentication is working fine with Windows 10 so I know there is nothing wrong with the Radius. However I seen a lot discussions online and looks like it is related to EAP types and some claiming it's TLS1.3 related issue. Has anyone got it working and if you did can you please share your settings? My current test settings on NPS end as below. And my GPO settings are as below I have all the names format matching (upper case, lower case) for Server name and SSID names. Thanks1.3KViews0likes1Comment
