MS Stream
6 TopicsStream on SharePoint Thumbnails Not Updating
So here's the scenario...and what I think could be a common scenario. 1. You add a video to a document library that you want to display on a page 2. You go to the library and launch the video to access Video Settings 3. You upload an image as the thumbnail 4. You add a file viewer web part to a page to display the video and the proper thumbnail displays Then a few days later your customer asks you to use a different image as the thumbnail...you follow steps 1-3 above and the thumbnail never updates on the page where the video is being displayed. When you access the source video from the doc library and view the details pane....you can see the NEW thumbnail showing up...but yet it won't display on the page where you placed the file viewer web part. This has happened on several occasions. Why are the simplest things the most difficult in SharePoint? Super frustrating. Before you suggest clearing cache...I don't think we should have to depend on our customers to clear cache every time we make an update to a thumbnail.5.2KViews3likes8CommentsMigrated videos expiration
We are Currently looking to migrate videos from Classic Stream to Modern Stream on SharePoint. We would also like to apply the expiration policies to the migrated videos as well. Microsoft mentions that it is possible, but no idea of how ? Has anyone else got a solution for this ? Can I apply retention or expiration policies in Stream (Classic) while migrating videos? No, retention or expiration policy ever existed in Stream (Classic), hence no such policy is applied while migrating videos. However, it's theoretically possible to apply expiration to videos after they're migrated to Stream (on SharePoint). We set a variable (mediaitem.progID) to identify a migrated video.Downloading from MS Streaming on a Mac
Microsoft, please why can't I download my video, recorded in Stream, when using my Mac?? It downloads the file as a webm, which then Quicktime says it is not compatible. Nor can I import it into a video editing program. This is very frustrating as our university is using Microsoft in abundance, but several staff and students use a Mac. Need a work around/update quickly please! Thanks Marlène
