You know how you hover your mouse along the bottom of the seek bar and as you move along the seek bar you get a preview of the content at that location. Youtube videos have the same thing. Well Window 11 Media Player does not show the preview as you move the cursor along the seek bar. I see no way to enable this through some setting. The settings menu in Media Player has no setting for this. I am pretty sure this worked at some point in time, I know it worked on my old Windows 10 7820X system that I retired in March. How do I get Windows 11 Media Player to show a preview of the content as I move the cursor along the seek bar?32Views0likes2CommentsC drive is full. What should I delete to clean up C drive safely?
My Windows 11 laptop has a small size C drive. It only has 80GB in space. Now, only 6GB free space is available and the computer starts lagging these days. Now, Windows 11 keeps warning me about low disk space. I'm not very experienced with system stuff, so I'm worried about deleting the wrong files and breaking something important. Because C drive is almost full, I've already cleaned up some obvious big files like old downloads and emptied the Recycle Bin, but it didn't free up much space. Not sure if it's safe to delete things like temporary files, Windows update files, or old system folders. Could someone explain what's safe to delete on the C drive and what I should absolutely avoid touching?53Views0likes7CommentsClicking External Hard Drive
Recently i obtained a blank 10TB external hard drive and when i plugged it in it made a clicking sound. I thought there must be some way to fix it so i googled how to fix it and according to some websites and videos it was fixable by realigning the heads etc. I did not want to attempt this myself so i went to a local computer store and they said it was dead and nothing could be done. They did not even plug it in to try it. My wife said it was probably not worth there time and effort fixing it. So did I misunderstand the information i found online and it's not fixable or was the computer shop not helpful or not willing to help with this issue?27Views0likes2CommentsHow to format a usb drive when not showing on my computer?
My USB drive isn't appearing in File Explorer on my Windows 10 PC, so I can't format it normally. It's detected in Disk Management as "unknown" or "unallocated," but I'm unsure how to proceed. I need to format it to use it again and don't want to lose any data currently on it (though I understand formatting will erase it). I've tried different USB ports and another computer, but it still doesn't show up in the drive list. Any advice on how to format a USB drive and why this happens or safer alternatives would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help!44Views0likes8CommentsWindows 11 search function slow to display results on initial boot.
The problem: When trying to search for an app for the first time since boot-up, the results are blank and takes around 20 seconds to be displayed. But the function has actually found the app I am searching for and its only the displaying part that is lagging because I can see the app's name being auto-completed and the app actually launches if I press enter at this stage. I remember this issue starting only recently, as in around 3-4 months ago if I am remembering it correct. I figured its the usual bug which will be fixed in the upcoming or the update after that but this has persisted for long enough for me to make a post in this forum. A video of what I am talking about can be found https://imgur.com/a/Zc6Q85X I am on build 26100.7462 for reference.14Views0likes1Commentcomputer occasionally unable to discover home wifi network
Sometimes when I wake up my computer, it is suddenly unable to detect my house's wifi, but it can still find other nearby networks. Every other device in my house is fine and can connect to my internet, but it's just my computer which can't find it at all. Every time it does this I just have to restart the router, but it's really annoying, and I was wondering if anyone has a fix?16Views0likes1CommentWindows Family Safety, No Devices Connected
I want to add time limits on my kids windows pc, one has a win 11 desktop, and another one a windows 10 laptop, I've added my main account as an admin, and created 2 accounts from the desktops -> settings -> accounts -> family, they appeared on the family setting on the windows desktops, and I can also see them on my windows Family Safety app, but for some reason, on the Family Safety App, I don't see any devices, and when I go to " How to connect a device", the steps outlined there literally don't work, since I don't see an allow button, on either the admin user, or the secondary user. But when I go to microsoft accounts I created for my kids, under devices, the devices are there, but on Microsoft Family Safety app they don't appear, which is so weird and annoying. I've been testing different things for the past couple of weeks and nothing worked. I've also contacted support, and even got escalated to tier 2 tech support, which did nothing, because the tech support told me to basically do a google search on this problem. Am I the only one having this issue?16Views0likes2CommentsHow do I pin a desktop shortcut to the Start Menu?
I have gone thru half a dozen "solutions" and they're all non-solutions. Most if not all lead to menus where the purported solution does not show, perhaps this is a question of versions. I created a shortcut on Windows11 Desktop. It is a shortcut to Windows Update. When clicked it runs correctly. The solution(s) I gathered say to right click the shortcut and expect a "Pin to Start menu" option to pop up. Well .... NONE did. Why is this seemingly simple and trivial functionality not failing on Windows 10? Would appreciate any guidance, tip or suggestion. Thanks in advance.50Views1like3CommentsHow can I convert m4a to mp3 on my Windows 11 PC?
Recently, I found that the audio files recorded with voice memos on my phone are all in .m4a format, although they can be played normally, but I encountered a lot of trouble when sharing them among my friends - some devices don't support direct playback, and uploading them on some platforms is also restricted. I've heard that MP3 is the most versatile audio format, and I'd like to ask you computer experts how to batch convert M4A files to MP3 format. I need to balance the ease of operation and conversion efficiency and worried that the sound quality will be drastically reduced. Is there a recommended safe and reliable conversion way to convert m4a to mp3 on Windows 11? Online tools are convenient, but I don't dare to transfer private files. Lastly, there are multiple files (about 50), is there a shortcut for batch processing?29KViews1like12Comments
