Forgot iPad Password? How to Unlock iPad without password on Windows PC?

Hi all,

I am a new Windows 11 user and need some help in here. My son changed the screen passcode of my iPad and it is now locked due to too many failed attempts. I used to reset iPad without password on my Mac but I don't have a Mac anymore. The only computer with me is a Windows 11 laptop.

I am eager to know what is the right step to unlock iPad without passcode if I forgot the password? I did some search and found out there are many ways to do this. Currently, I am quite confused and don't know how to proceed next.

Looking forward to your advice!

Do you have the proof or receipt? Just book a slot for Genius bar and they will unlock iPad without password for you even if you forgot the password. However, this is a time consuming and complicate process.

But fortunately, there’s a simple solution to unlock iPad passcode without losing your precious data:  https://www.makeuserof.com/forgot-ipad-passcode

    It works for me!

Forgetting iPad password can be super frustrating! I totally get it. So, here's the deal—if you're looking to get back into your iPad. First off, if you had any go-to passwords or patterns (you know, the ones you usually fall back on), try some common passwords for your iPad. If you're really in a pickle or just feel like you might mess things up, you could always reach out to someone rocking Microsoft support or tech-savvy friends who might know a thing or two about iOS.

When you forgot ipad password, and if you enter the wrong password multiple times (usually six attempts), your iPad will be locked. You might see a message saying that your iPad is disabled. If you keep entering the wrong password, it will only get worse, with the device locking you out for increasingly longer periods.

If you're out of luck with the passwords, you'll need to go the more technical route, which, don't worry, is actually pretty straightforward! Here's how you can put your iPad in recovery mode after forgot an iPad password:

    1. Connect your iPad to a computer (Windows or Mac).
    2. Open iTunes on Windows or older Macs or Finder on macOS Catalina or later.
    3. While your iPad is connected, force restart it: For this, press and hold the Power and Home buttons together until you see the recovery mode screen.
    4. You'll get an option to either Restore or Update. Go ahead and hit Restore.

This wipes your iPad clean, along with the password. Just beware—it'll also erase all your data unless you have a backup!

Flpence If you haven't synced the iPad with iTunes on Windows PC or enabled Find My iPad, you can use Recovery Mode to unlock iPad without passcode. This is an easy way to fix the issue when you forgot iPad password. Steps:

    1. Connect your iPad to a computer and open iTunes (or Finder on macOS Catalina or later).
    2. Force restart your iPad by pressing the appropriate buttons for your model until the Recovery Mode screen appears.
    3. iTunes/Finder will detect the iPad in Recovery Mode and prompt you to restore it.
    4. This will erase the iPad and remove the password.

Manzies I agree on this. Recovery Mode is a special booting sequence on iPads that allows you to restore the device's firmware or iOS in situations where the device is otherwise unresponsive, such as when you've forgotten iPad passcode or when the device is stuck on the Apple logo. Recovery Mode is particularly useful for troubleshooting and restoring the device through iTunes on a Windows 10 or Windows 11 computer. Boot into Recovery Mode on iPad:

      1. Use a USB cable to connect your iPad to a computer with iTunes
      2. Turn off the iPad. Connect the iPad to your computer while holding the Top (Power) button. Keep holding the Top button until the Recovery Mode screen appears.
      3. Choose the "Restore" option. This will download the latest iPadOS and reset your iPad to factory settings, removing the password.

Recovery Mode is a powerful tool to reset iPad without passcode, but it's essential to be aware of the consequences, particularly the loss of data.

Unlocking iPad without password using the recovery mode can definitely get you back into your device, If you haven't backed up recently, you're going to lose all your photos, apps, music, and any other data you thought you had saved. Trust me, The whole process isn't exactly lightning-fast. You need to connect, restart, wait for the iPad to reset, and then set everything up from scratch afterward. If you've got a busy day, this can be a headache to fit into your schedule.

Once your iPad is wiped, you'll have to deal with re-downloading everything and logging back into all your apps. It's like the first day you bought it all over again, but without the shiny newness. You'll basically be on a scavenger hunt to find all the stuff you previously had.

Using Recovery Mode means you're essentially hitting the reset button on your device after forgot iPad password. All the photos, messages, apps, and that super cute meme you saved? If you haven't synced or backed anything up, it can feel like losing a piece of yourself.

Flpence The above are very good suggestions to the issue. However, you should pay attention to a few things when you are trying to unlock iPad without passcode if forgot the password in recovery mode:

Data Loss: Using Recovery Mode will erase all data on the iPad. Ensure you have a backup available if you want to recover your data afterward.

Backup Beforehand: If possible, make a backup before entering Recovery Mode. If the iPad is already locked and you can't access it, this might not be an option.

Apple ID and Activation Lock: After restoring, if you had Find My iPad enabled, you'll need to enter your Apple ID and password to bypass the Activation Lock during the setup process.

Flpence  Using an password unlocking software can be a convenient option if you're unable to unlock an iPad through other methods like iTunes, recovery mode or iCloud. These tools are designed to help bypass the iPad's password and regain access to your device.

What is an iPad password unlocking software?  They refers to specialized tools developed by various companies that can remove or bypass the lock screen on an iPad. These tools are typically used when you’ve forgotten the iPad password, and traditional methods aren’t viable or have failed. It is easy to reset iPad without passcode by effectively erasing the lock screen password.

If you had Find My iPad enabled before your forget iPad password, you'll face another headache. After restoring it, you're gonna be asked for your Apple ID and password to get past the Activation Lock. If you can't remember that info or have issues accessing it, you're stuck. It's like reaching the final boss only to realize you forgot to bring the right gear.
